I was looking for a 'coffee table book' for my nursery - How silly - but this is perfect! Elevated, beautiful, full of great beginner's art education for a little one.

I would recommend for a nursery, playroom, or playful coffee table set up. I have this on an end table next to my rocking chair.

Wonderful book for young artists and all curious youngsters alike. Numerous paintings and works from every historical age are presented and discussed in a lively and dialectical way that engages kids, and all this without dumbing it down to them. This is one of the best things about the book, it does not speak to kids in a way that assumes they are docile innocents. Best art book for kids that I have come across in my 73 years.

Excellent format, very engaging! A wonderful resource for elementary to middle school age art students and children of all ages. Equally suitable for school or home enjoyment.

My ten year old grandchild says that she likes it and has learned about artists she likes and has been introduced to new artists and their styles.

I got this for my nieces and ended up reading the whole book! Very informative. Their mom now uses it as part of their home schooling curriculum.

Colorful, big pictures and full of great information!

I didn’t take any art classes in college, so my understanding of classic art is very limited. I saw this on sale in the gift shop at the Sonoma Museum of Art, I picked it up thinking it would be fun to read to my daughter. I have learned so much from reading it, and it’s lead to very interesting discussions because of how the author poses questions about the art. I wish it included more female artists, but I do understand that many of the predominant artists were male. It’s a beautifully hardbound book, with bright colors, and easy to read text. My six-year-old and I are having a great time reading about two or three artists before bedtime. She liked it so much she asked me to get the white book.

It isn’t exclusively 20th century art… there are probably 4 or 5 older artists, but I’d love a second volume that does the same thing with no (or only a few) 20th century artists.

When I looked at this book I wished I could spend a lot more time with it and do some of the things it suggested. The nine year old, who likes painting and drawing, said it was great and has used it with the rest of his family in an 'art afternoon', when the weather was too bad to go out.

Recomiendo este libro para utilizar en las clases de Plástica en inglés. Ilustraciones estupendas, muy buenas ideas, temas interesantes. Muy bueno.

Está increíble!!!! Mi hija está en una etapa donde ama el arte y este libro me ayudo perfecto a ilustrarla visualmente y que conozca a los artistas más emblemáticos de la historia, ambas estamos fascinadas, lo recomiendo muchísimo

I already own Bk. 1 and have often used it with my Reception class. This is a brilliant follow up and will help me to introduce children to great works of art and artistic techniques.

An excellent book with kid friendly but detailed information about the artists.
