      I bought this mainly to learn the basics of orrery design and it was very helpful - it fits together well and the instructions are easy to follow. With each step in the building process it's easy to see how the gears interact with each other and how they're responsible of the various planetary rotations. It's a really good engineering took and looks great!

      My only issue with the product is that it's VERY difficult to make it work - with all the friction through all the gears the shaft basically twists around itself and the the outer planets only move a few inches with the inner planets not moving at all (I did apply the provided wax to all teeth and surfaces very liberally). I think if it had a sturdy main shaft and a better waxing option it would function more smoothly.

      All that said, I'm very happy with the orrery and it looks great! Despite the friction issue I would certainly recommend this for anybody of a mechanical mindset who doesn't want to spend hundreds to thousands on a metal orrery
