Very cute and general intro to Viet food but not sophisticated enough for ambitious young cook
Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2024Enjoyed the beautiful illustrations and friendly language to Viet food and cuisine but only a few recipes (one involved peanuts which the kid chef has allergies to). Needed a more challenging cookbook for a 10 year old that really wants to try many different recipes. Otherwise, high quality materials and nice intro to Vietnamese cuisine.

Great Book, “but you don’t have to take my word for it.”
Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2023I’m part of the Reading Rainbow generation and what I loved about that show was that it opened my eyes to other cultures. If the original program was still on today, A very Asian Guide to Vietnamese Food would easily be included in the list of suggested reads. It does all the things you hope for in a book—sparks your curiosity, makes learning a language fun, and leaves you hungry for more. I enjoyed reading this book as a parent and can’t wait to share it with my kiddos. I hope that they will devour the book’s pages as quickly as I did. I promise, you will read this book over and over again…”but you don’t have to take my word for it.”
