Proves biblical christianity and the bible to be a fraudulent scam.
Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2018Mr. Paine systematically goes through the whole bible using the bible against itself showing how none of the books with the authors names on them are actually written by the authors, but from an unknown source years and years after they were supposedly written. He reveals prophesies that never came true, and how the prophets were actually liars who at times lied to save their own lives and used their fake title as prophets to keep themselves in high positions with the kings and rulers of their time. He also shows numerous contradictions that are irreconcilable. He completely dismantles the new testament using the books against themselves. There are numerous books that completely debunk christianity and the bible as fraudulent scams...and this one deserves to be at the top with the best of them. Great book. I highly recommend.

One of my favorite books. Paine makes a mockery of dogma.
Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2019Thomas Paine, a deist and one of the American founding revolutionaries after Ben Franklin invited him to immigrate to the restive colonies, in this book pillories organized religion. He does so by dissecting both old and new testaments of the bible and pointing out the hypocrisy of the established clergy. The book was very controversial in its time and landed the publishers in hot water. Paine, like Thomas Jefferson, was no atheist but had no use for organized religion or its doctrine. The book makes a perfect gift, and I recommend it to everyone, especially teenagers and young adults in the process of figuring out what they believe.

Must Read for Every American
Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2021If you think you know the reasons behind some of the lines in the U.S. Constitution, you may be wrong. This book explains why the U.S. was founded as a Secular government. And why the separation of Church and State is so important.

Enlightening and educational for any Christian who has unanswered questions about the Bible.
Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2016I am 71 and just now reading this great book. I have been a Christian all my life, but have had many questions and issues with the Bible. This book was not only enlightening, but opened my eyes to the extent religion plays in trying to control the masses and fill mankind with such guilt. Last year I read the complete books of the Old Testament for the first time. Thomas Paine was right even after 222 years it is nothing but a bloody tale of genocide. He died practically friendless because he tried to buck the system. And he did actually believe in a supreme God. He was never an atheist. He was just a man before his time. Loved this book.

If you have nagging questions about the hypocrisy of religion, TP answers them all
Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2021I am a genuine, unabashed agnostic - I believe there might a God, but there might not be. But it shouldn't matter - do the right thing and how can you go wrong? Payne believed in God, but was horrified by most (if not all) organized religions and this book exposes all the flaws in religious doctrine (indoctrination, in fact) and shines a light on the Bible that is rarely shone with such logic and insight.

Ammunition for Atheists. Believers are idiots!
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2018Good book if you are an atheist. Gives you solid evidence God isn't real and makes believers seem like idiots, and makes atheists seem smart. As they are smarter than believers.
