Farewell May! June is only hours away. And it's going to be a busy month for me.
There's the vegetable garden, and the endless mowing of the much too big lawns. And there is the actually writing time, which is hours a day at the keyboard.
Then there is Being a Writer. Which is when I put on my social hat and head out to talk to actual readers and sign books.
So, here is the June schedule of me Being a Writer as I know it right now.
June 6, coming at us like a rocket! I will be chatting with Evan Leikam about a new book. Anji Kills a King. At his point, I know only the title, but I have a copy and will begin reading it today. This event is at Parallel Worlds in Portland Oregon. 2639 N. E. Alberta Street. 7 PM After our conversation, we will both be signing, and yes, you may bring books from home for me to sign. This is book one of The Rising Tide.
TIME CORRECTION On June 19, I will be closer to home. The Lakewood Barnes and Noble has invited Terry Brooks and me to help with the launch of a new book by Peter Orullian and Brandon Sanderson! 6 PM on June 19th. 10330 59th Ave SW, Lakewood Washington. This collaboration is entitled Songs for the Dead, and is on my to be read pile as well. (It just keeps getting taller!)
Then, because one cannot have too many fun conversations with Brandon Sanderson, On June 25, I will be flying off to Utah, for an evening with Ryan Cahill and Brandon Sanderson. We will be celebrating the launch of Ryan Cahill's novella The FALL, the prequel to his The Bound and the Broken series. This is a ticketed event! Get your tickets at Ryan Cahill's website. I am very much looking forward to this. Poppy Books is hosting this at Lehi Highschool in Lehi Utath. 6 PM. Tickets are about $25.
Where else can you find me? Well, if you happen to live near McKenna Washington (Very small town, barely a blip on the map) you can find me on most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Writers' Refuge. This is a gathering I host in an elegant concrete block building that has been, in its time, a gas station, a gun shop, a tattoo parlor, a military surplus store, and probably other things I don't know about. But it is now a place where, from 6 to 8 PM about 3 days a week, writers can gather to come in, sit down, shut up and write. Well, yes, you can drink coffee or tea and eat a few cookies and sometimes we do take a break and chat. 35617 State Route 507 South, McKenna, Washington. Just show up. If the chairs are full, we will bring out more chairs. This month, of course, I will NOT be there on the 19th, 24th and 26th, but the building will still be open for writers to work. Feel free to drop in and try it out.
And that is it for June, as I know it right now. I'll hope to meet readers at one of these and sign books.
See you there?
