Challenge Information and Guidelines
Ever since I've joined bandom, I have seen people lamenting the lack of hurt/comfort. I don't know whether or not this is true (bandom does pretty well against some fandoms, though it pales in comparison to, say, Stargate Atlantis or Star Trek), but the thing about h/c is that there always needs to be more. So I was talking to 
mahoni and turps33 last month and said, what we truly need is an h/c challenge, and they said, yes, yes, and helped me brainstorm, so here it is at last. Thanks especially to turps33 for looking this over and helping me tweak.
HOW IT WORKS:
Timeline:
July 8 to July 17, prompt submission.
July 18 to July 31, signups and prompt claiming.
September 30th, stories due. <-- Please note correction.
Prompts:
From July 8 to July 17, prompts can be submitted here. You can make as many prompts as you want, in separate comments or in single comments - the more prompts the better. Anonymous comments will be allowed, if you prefer not to own up to your burning desire for a kidnapping fic or some such. As long as the prompt pertains to h/c, it's allowed: standard h/c tropes (car accident, bank robbery, kidnapping, illness), tropes borrowed from other fandoms (zombie attack, aliens want your brain), or anything else you can think of. More information can be found on the prompts post.
Signups and Prompt Claiming:
Signups are now open here.
On July 18, I will make a post with the compiled list of prompts. At that point, they will be up for claiming on a first come, first serve basis. Comment on that post with the number of the prompt you want, and it will be crossed off the list.
Signups and prompt claiming will be open until the 31st.
Submissions:
Submissions are due September 30th, and may be either fic or art. All stories must be at least 1000 words. Submissions may be co-written/drawn. Stories may be prequels or sequels to existing works, but they must be able to stand alone. You may use something you have already started, but it may not have been previously posted elsewhere (snippets on your journal are fine).
Any bandom band is fair game - if you consider it to be part of bandom, go ahead and write it. Gen or het or slash, any rating allowed, the story is completely up to you. However, given the sensitive nature of some h/c stories (e.g., traumatic events often being used for romantic ends), the following must be warned for: non-con, dub-con, suicide, character death, self-injury, and eating disorders (if you feel I have missed something important from this list, please comment or send me a message). Feel free to put your warning behind a spoiler tag if you so desire.
There is no penalty for defaulting, so if you're not sure you'll have time, go ahead and sign up anyway.
