I encourage you to read these introductory chapters carefully. They contain important insight that just might make the difference between a "hire" and a "no hire:' And remember-interviews are hard! In my years of interviewing at Google, I saw some interviewers ask "easy" questions while others ask harder questions. But you know what? Getting the easy questions doesn't make it any easier to get the offer. Receiving an offer is not about solving questions flawlessly (very few candidates do!). Rather, it is about answering questions better than other candidates. So don't stress out when you get a tricky question-everyone else probably thought it was hard too. It's okay to not be flawless. Study hard, practice- and good luck!

Revocable Identity-Based Broadcast Proxy Re-encryption for Data Sharing in Clouds

Cloud computing has become prevalent due to its nature of massive storage and vast computing capabilities. Ensuring a secure data sharing is critical to cloud applications. Recently, a number of identity-based broadcast proxy re-encryption (IB-BPRE) schemes have been proposed to resolve the problem. However, the IB-BPRE requires a cloud user (Alice) who wants to share data with a bunch of other users (e.g. colleagues) to participate the group shared key renewal process because Alice's private key is a prerequisite for shared key generation. This, however, does not leverage the benefit of cloud computing and causes the inconvenience for cloud users. Therefore, a novel security notion named revocable identity-based broadcast proxy re-encryption (RIB-BPRE) is presented to address the issue of key revocation in this work. In a RIB-BPRE scheme, a proxy can revoke a set of delegates, designated by the delegator, from the re-encryption key. The performance evaluation reveals that the proposed scheme is efficient and practical.

Abstract. Data-centric synchronization groups fields of objects into atomic sets to indicate they must be updated atomically. Each atomic set has associated units of work, code fragments that preserve the consistency of that atomic set. We present a type system for data-centric synchronization that enables separate compilation and supports atomic sets that span multiple objects, thus allowing recursive data structures to be updated atomically. The type system supports full encapsulation for more efficient code generation. We evaluate our proposal using AJ, which extends the Java programming language with data-centric synchronization. We report on the implementation of a compiler and on refactoring classes from standard libraries and a multi-threaded benchmark to use atomic sets. Our results suggest that data-centric synchronization enjoys low annotation overhead while preventing high-level data races.

This paper explores the impact of adaptive navigation support on student work with parameterized questions in the domain of object-oriented programming. In the past, we developed QuizJET system, which is able to generate and assess parameterized Java programming questions. More recently, we developed JavaGuide system, which enhances QuizJET questions with adaptive navigation support. This system introduces QuizJET and JavaGuide and reports the results of classroom studies, which explored the impact of these systems and assessed an added value of adaptive navigation support. The results of the studies indicate that adaptive navigation support encourages students use parameterized questions more extensively. Students are also 2.5 times more likely to answer parameterized questions correctly with adaptive navigation support than without such support. In addition, we found that adaptive navigation support especially benefit weaker students helping to close the gap between strong and weak students.

Mobility support is an essential feature in communication networks nowadays. Telecom operators are facing challenges in elucidating the traffic in the network. In order to address the challenges of providing IP mobility in an IMS based network, we are proposing TRIM architecture, a solution to support the mobility in IP networks with IMS, making mobility transparent to applications and to communication peers of mobile nodes. It provides optimal path to exchange data between end user applications. In this paper, we can enhance the performance by analysis of in home buffering and handover delay in Mobile nodes. This solution is deployed using Network Simulator 2 considering UDP and TCP traffic. The proposed mechanism provides ability to monitor the network states by collecting management data and maintain the network resources.

Finally, we suggested a solution to Small and Medium Enterprises via a Quality Management Software developed on J2EE framework and the Spring-Hibernate focusing on three main axes: Key Performance Indicators, document management references and audit management. Since, we have used open source technologies in conception and development, the company will not need to have any extra cost for certificates, deployment and maintenance. The only real cost is the one that is spent on the development phase. This solution helps the company to cut off the extra expenses and ensure a good balance between a good quality management and cost as well as a better integration with the already set infrastructure.

In programming it is often necessary to split a string into pieces for processing.  Often a long numeric value is entered and it may be necessary to separate each digit or the decimal portion from the whole portion for processing.  Using the Java split method it is possible to split a string value into it's individual components.  This is a demonstration of the Java .split method.

KeyD: Secure Key-Deduplication with Identity-Based Broadcast Encryption

Deduplication, which can save storage cost by enabling us to store only one copy of identical data, becomes unprecedentedly significant with the dramatic increase in data stored in the cloud. For the purpose of ensuring data confidentiality, they are usually encrypted before outsourced. Traditional encryption will inevitably result in multiple different ciphertexts produced from the same plaintext by different users' secret keys, which hinders data deduplication. Convergent encryption makes deduplication possible since it naturally encrypts the same plaintexts into the same ciphertexts. One attendant problem is how to reliably and effectively manage a huge number of convergent keys. Several deduplication schemes have been proposed to deal with the convergent key management problem. However, they either need to introduce key management servers or require interaction between data owners. In this paper, we design a novel client-side deduplication protocol named KeyD without such an independent key management server by utilizing the identity-based broadcast encryption (IBBE) technique. Users only interact with the cloud service provider (CSP) during the process of data upload and download. Security analysis demonstrates that KeyD ensures data confidentiality and convergent key security, and well protects the ownership privacy simultaneously. A thorough and detailed performance comparison shows that our scheme makes a better tradeoff among the storage cost, communication and computation overhead. Dating with Scambots: Understanding the Ecosystem of Fraudulent Dating Applications

In this work, we are focusing on a new and yet uncovered way for malicious apps to gain profit. They claim to be dating apps. However, their sole purpose is to lure users into purchasing premium/VIP services to start conversations with other (likely fake female) accounts in the app. We call these apps as fraudulent dating apps. This paper performs a systematic study to understand the whole ecosystem of fraudulent dating apps. Specifically, we have proposed a three-phase method to detect them and subsequently comprehend their characteristics via analyzing the existing account profiles. Our observation reveals that most of the accounts are not managed by real persons, but by chatbots based on predefined conversation templates. We also analyze the business model of these apps and reveal that multiple parties are actually involved in the ecosystem, including producers who develop apps, publishers who publish apps to gain profit, and the distribution network that is responsible for distributing apps to end users. Finally, we analyze the impact of them to users (i.e., victims) and estimate the overall revenue. Our work is the first systematic study on fraudulent dating apps, and the results demonstrate the urge for a solution to protect users.

Internet-of-Things (IoT) generate large data that is processed, analysed
and filtered by cloud data centres. IoT is getting tremendously popular: the
number of IoT devices worldwide is expected to reach 50.1 billion by 2020 and
from this, 30.7% of IoT devices will be made available in Healthcare. Transmission
and analysis of this much amount of data will increase the response time
of cloud computing. The increase in response time will lead to high service
latency to the end-users. The main requirement of IoT is to have low latency to
transfer the data in real-time. Cloud cannot fulfill the QoS requirement in a
satisfactory manner. Both the volume of data as well as factors related to internet
connectivity may lead to high network latency in analyzing and acting upon the
data. The propose research work introduces a hybrid approach that combines
fuzzy and reinforcement learning to improve service and network latency in
healthcare IoT and cloud. This hybrid approach integrates healthcare IoT
devices with the cloud and uses fog services with Fuzzy Reinforcement
Learning Data Packet Allocation (FRLDPA) algorithm. The propose algorithm
performs batch workloads on IoT data to minimize latency and manages the
QoS of the latency-critical workloads. It has the potential to automate the reasoning
and decision making capability in fog computing nodes.

Dans ce travail, nous présentons un modèle de vote électronique sécurisé permettant de respecter sous la seule hypothèse de la fiabilité du système, la totalité des propriétés de sécurité existantes du vote électronique. La démarche de mise sur pied de ce modèle a consisté en l'énumération des différentes propriétés de vote. Et après une modélisation de chacune d'elles, une démonstration que certaines d'entre elles, ne pourraient coexister de façon inconditionnelle a été effectuée. Dans l'optique d'apporter une solution à cette incompatibilité, nous avons bâti un modèle de vote qui sous certaines conditions et hypothèses, pourrait permettre la coexistence de toutes ces propriétés de sécurité.
