Cultural competence has gained attention as a potential strategy to improve quality and eliminate racial/ethnic disparities in health care. In 2002 we conducted inter- views with experts in cultural competence from managed care, government, and academe to identify their perspectives on the field. Leadership is both a science and an art; how one chooses to employ it is relevant within the context of a given situation. Leadership exists within relationships that are present throughout an organization. Encouraging a collaborative environment promotes an ongoing integration of ideas and interdependency among multiple stakeholders throughout an organization. The purpose of this work is to provide an overview and analysis of collaborative leadership and shared management tactics. The overview includes an identification of differences between leadership and management, and applies the concepts to collaborative management practices. Analysis occurs in the form of a scholastic discussion related to the pragmatic application and inculcation of collaborative management strategies throughout a health care organization. One issue discussed relates to the lack of a common definition for collaborative management. A definition of collaborative management is based upon an extensive doctoral-level study that was conducted between January and February 2009. Collaboration is a synergistic work environment wherein multiple parties must work together toward the enhancement of health care management practices and processes. The discussion culminates with the presentation of a collaborative communications model developed through the conduct of an academic study. While not an end all document, the information contained within this work is applicable for practitioners of management processes through a pragmatic view of leadership. Health care management practices are changing and leaders must embrace change to remain successful in the management of health care.

Emirates airlines and Middle East aviation system will face strong challenges with global aviation during the coming years. In the mean while, “the overall growth aspiration of the region demands a high-performing aviation system—including airlines, airports, and air traffic control (ATC)—that in 20 years must successfully serve more than four times the passengers it serves today. However, international benchmarks illustrate that even today’s aviation system does not fulfill current demand. In many Middle East countries, aviation systems’ quality and efficiency levels are well below international levels (e.g., compared to Europe and Asia). Heavy regulation also has resulted in limited service in terms of route frequency and destinations, high customer prices, and a need for high government subsidies to maintain the system.”1
Middle East aviation markets especially United Arab Emirates have set the level for reforming their aviation systems and have started encouraging trading and deregulation of airlines rules. In addition, the Middle airline sector plays a smart role in developing a world-class, such as Qatar Airways (which has a five-star Skytrax ranking) and Emirates Group (which has above-average profitability).

The growth of Emirates embodies the spirit of competition and free enterprise, which will continue to guide their policies for the benefit of the UAE and of the global community in which they operate.”2
Finally, analyzing Emirates airline challenges through SWOT analysis and comparing it with Lufthansa Group a prove of being very active with Cargo and shipment services and passenger cater through developing there technology and advertise there 40 brands and looking to the needs of the customers. It was very obvious of the strengthen of innovation and creativity of Emirates is much stronger then the weakness and keep in going to hire new employees and buying new plans even during Dubai crisis. After compering Emirates with Lufthansa Group the largest airlines in terms of passenger and second largest airline of fleet aircraft. We will prove that Emirates is the most innovative and the fastest airlines growing in the world since they are 25 years old and Lufthansa 86 years old.

Although it is probably the best-known Prospective Hazard Analysis (PHA) tool, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is far from the only option available. This paper introduces one of the alternatives: The Structured What-If Technique (SWIFT). SWIFT is a flexible, high-level risk identification technique that can be used on a standalone basis, or as part of a staged approach to make more efficient use of bottom-up methods like FMEA.

In this paper we describe the method, assess the evidence related to its use in healthcare using a systematic literature review, and suggest ways in which it could be better adapted for use in the healthcare industry. Based on the limited
evidence available, it appears that healthcare workers find it easy to learn, easy to use, and credible. Especially when used as part of a staged approach, SWIFT appears capable of playing a useful role as component of the PHA
armamentarium.

Depression is a common disorder that impacts an individual's ability to perform life activities, including those required by the workplace. Academic performance can be viewed as a direct parallel to workforce performance, with students belonging to a unique set of individuals whose ability to perform can be measured on criteria applied by an observer and by self-report. While the prevalence of depression for this group is high and preparation for entry into the workplace is critical for these individuals, this relationship has not been adequately investigated. For patients with chronic disease, there is growing interest in "self-management" programs that emphasize the patients' central role in managing their illness. A recent randomized clinical trial demonstrated the potential of self-management to improve health status and reduce health care utilization in patients with chronic diseases. To evaluate outcomes of a chronic disease self-management program in a real-world" setting. Before-after cohort study. Of the 613 patients from various Kaiser Permanente hospitals and clinics recruited for the study, 489 had complete baseline and follow-up data. The contemporary concept of emotional intelligence (EI) as a critical set of management skills is traced through time to its current application for health care administration. EI is defined as proficiencies in intrapersonal and interpersonal skills in the areas of self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, social awareness, and social skills. The contributions of EI to effective management are supported by empirical research in the field. The importance of developing these skills in health care organizations is further clarified with examples familiar to health care administrators. Training suggestions and assessment resources are provided.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer around the world. In Colombia, although its incidence is considered low in comparison with developed countries like the United States of America, mortality and incidence figures show increases. As a public health problem, breast cancer has to be addressed with appropriate early detection strategies for its control. The present article reviews the main aspects to consider when establishing a screening program; the basic concepts are discussed, a summary of the evidence regarding efficacy of mammography, clinical breast examination and self-exam is presented, and a brief review of what has happened in our country in relation with the early detection of breast cancer. This paper traces the development of information and communication (ICT) within health care and the emergence of telehealth as a key component of modern health care delivery as health care moves from the 'face to face age' to the 'information age'. The paper examines the interface of ICT and nursing practice and highlights the limited evidence relating to the nursing contribution within telehealth particularly beyond data input and output analysis for other health care personnel. Additionally, the absence of research relating to the impact of ICT upon nurses and their working lives is identified. The paper concludes that nurses need to engage more fully with ICT so that they contribute to shaping the care system and emerge as leaders of the new care systems delivering future clinical activity.

Introduction: Understanding how the students’ expectations about the process of educational services is being met, plays an important role in improving the quality education and academic
services in the higher learning institutes; because by determining the probable gaps between the expectations and perceptions of students, necessary actions can be undertaken to enhance the quality of educational services.

Purpose: This study intends to determine the quality gap in educational services provided to the paramedical students in Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2010.

Method: The study was a cross sectional research that used standard SERVQUAL questionnaire to collect data from paramedical students of the school of Allied Medical Sciences, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. A total of 135 responses were analyzed to identify the quality gap in educational services.

Findings: Results show that there is a negative quality gap in all five dimensions of quality educational services (empathy, physical, responsiveness, assurance and confidence). The maximum and minimum mean of quality gap observed in the dimension of empathy and assurance was -1.57 and -1.31 respectively. Moreover, a statistically significant difference was observed between the five dimensions of educational services in the quality gap (p<0.001).

Conclusion: According to the results, it is recommended that in order to reduce the gap and improve the quality of educational services, attention should be paid to all aspects of service quality, particularly to the empathy dimension. It is also suggested that proper planning is needed to better serve
employees and increase their communication skills, in order to help reduce the educational quality gap.

Originality/value: The concept of service quality assessment through SERVQUAL is a relatively new effort among Iranian universities, and there is lack of previous published literature using this method to assess the quality of educational services. Thus, this paper can be used as a guide for universities and academic institutes who seek to identify the educational quality gap in order to improve upon it.

Risk assessment, by itself, does nothing to reduce risk or improve safety. It can only change outcomes by informing the design and management of effective risk control interventions.
