Dr. Utku Kose received the B.S. degree in 2008 from computer education of Gazi University, Turkey as a faculty valedictorian. He received M.S. degree in 2010 from Afyon Kocatepe University, Turkey in the field of computer and D.S. / Ph. D. degree in 2017 from Selcuk University, Turkey in the field of computer engineering. Between 2009 and 2011, he has worked as a Research Assistant in Afyon Kocatepe University. Following, he has also worked as a Lecturer and Vocational School - Vice Director in Afyon Kocatepe University between 2011 and 2012, as a Lecturer and Research Center Director in Usak University between 2012 and 2017, and as an Assistant Professor in Suleyman Demirel University between 2017 and 2019. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in Suleyman Demirel University, Turkey. He has more than 200 publications including articles, authored and edited books, proceedings, and reports. He is also in editorial boards of many scientific journals and serves as one of the editors of the Biomedical and Robotics Healthcare (CRC Press) and Computational Modeling Applications for Existential Risks (Elsevier) book series. His research interest includes artificial intelligence, machine ethics, artificial intelligence safety, biomedical applications, optimization, the chaos theory, distance education, e-learning, computer education, and computer science.

Time series analysis is widely used in the field of health. Data obtained from patients vary acco... more Time series analysis is widely used in the field of health. Data obtained from patients vary according to time. Diagnosis, classification and follow-up of the disease are made with the help of sensors placed on the patients. One of the sensors placed in patients is EEG (Electroencephalogram). EEG is used to receive signals from the brain. These signals are transferred to the computer and the patient’s condition is examined. In this study, time series analysis was performed with EEG data set obtained from Kaggle. In the work, LSTM (Long Short Term Memory) repetitive neural network model was used which is one of the deep learning models due to the large data set. In the study, two LSTM based algorithm structures were used, the first algorithm was designed as 8 layers, the second algorithm was added between these 8 layers were increased as a loop through activation and the layers. When the two algorithm models were trained, the loss rates in 16384 sequence time series data were found below 0.01 when calculated with mse and mae metrics.

We mention that the Moodle platform, version 3.2 is dedicated to extramural and distance learning. It supports various gamification elements such as avatars, badges, leaderboard, levels, displaying quiz results or progress bars. The ranking block plugin was introduced and configured to be available for procedural programming course activities, at the beginning of the first semester of 2016, which starts in October. It displays a course leaderboard visible to all users as a way of obtaining recognition from other users. Diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy by Using Image Processing and Convolutional Neural Network

Diabetic retinopathy is a serious eye disease that originates from diabetes mellitus and is the m... more Diabetic retinopathy is a serious eye disease that originates from diabetes mellitus and is the most common cause of blindness in the developed countries. This study describes the use of image processing and deep learning to diagnose diabetic retinopathy from retinal fundus images. For retinal fundus images enhancement approach, a practical method which contains HSV, V transform algorithm and histogram equalization technics was used. Finally, Gaussian low-pass filter was applied to the retinal fundus image. After the image processing, the classification was made using the Convolutional Neural Network. The performance of the proposed method was assessed using 400 retinal fundus images in the Kaggle Diabetic Retinopathy Detection database. In experiments, classification work has been done for each stage of the image processing. The classification study performed after image processing. Twenty experiments were done for every stage and average values were found. In this experiment, the accuracy was 97%, the sensitivity was 96.67%, the specificity was 93.33%, the precision was 97.78%, the recall was 93.33%, and the Fscore was 93.33%. The obtained results show that the proposed method is very efficient and successful to diagnose diabetic retinopathy from retinal fundus images.

It is treatable but physiotherapists may do different measurements for curvature angles. That's a problem affecting the treatment planning. This study aims to develop a Deep Learning-based decision support system, which diagnoses scoliosis and plans treatments via Schroth method. The system has an interpretable and explainable CapsNet model processing x-ray image to detect 68-point vertebrae and make Cobb angle measurements. By using angle values and patient parameters, treatment is planned through an automated Schroth definition and the Fuzzy Logic. In the evaluations, the CapsNet had dominating findings (some of them are MSE: 0.0038, PCC: 0.93, Accuracy: 0.98). The Fuzzy Logic model was accurate at exercise plans for past cases. Also, physiotherapists and patients had positive feedback for the system usage, trustworthiness, diagnosis, treatment planning and tracking. As a conclusion, the system ensures advancements for automated diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis.

Yapay Zeka altyapısı ile üretilen araçlar genel olarak zeki sistem olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Bu noktada zeki sistemlerin en önemli avantajlarından biri de karar desteği olarak kullanılabilmeleridir. Nihai karar vermenin zaman aldığı ya da zor olduğu aşamalarda zeki karar destek sistemlerinin kullanımı etkinlik ve verimlilik kazancı sağlamaktadır. Zeki karar destek sistemleri, karar süreçlerinin olduğu birçok farklı faaliyet alanı için geliştirilebiliyor olsa da bunlardan en kritik olanı sağlık alanı olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, sağlıkta zeki karar destek sistemlerinin günümüz ölçeğindeki durumu değerlendirilmiş, ayrıca yakın ve uzak geleceğe dair çeşitli projeksiyonlar sunulmak suretiyle, Yapay Zeka-insan odaklı tartışmalara yer verilmiştir.

This work has great importance of evidence-based medicine, but all clinical studies to provide data analysis and decision support capabilities are a result of the lack of usable information system. Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) are interactive software system designed to assist physicians in the diagnosis of patient data, such as the decision-making process based on. Modern clinical decision support systems offer a wide range capabilities of services to users. World Wide Web technologies has changed completely decision support systems design, development, implementation structure. This article describes the development of latest technological advances about CDSS and summarize current structer of Web-based CDSS.

Development of a CapsNet and Fuzzy Logic Decision Support System for Diagnosing the Scoliosis and Planning Treatments via Schroth Method

It is treatable but physiotherapists may do different measurements for curvature angles. That's a problem affecting the treatment planning. This study aims to develop a Deep Learning-based decision support system, which diagnoses scoliosis and plans treatments via Schroth method. The system has an interpretable and explainable CapsNet model processing x-ray image to detect 68-point vertebrae and make Cobb angle measurements. By using angle values and patient parameters, treatment is planned through an automated Schroth definition and the Fuzzy Logic. In the evaluations, the CapsNet had dominating findings (some of them are MSE: 0.0038, PCC: 0.93, Accuracy: 0.98). The Fuzzy Logic model was accurate at exercise plans for past cases. Also, physiotherapists and patients had positive feedback for the system usage, trustworthiness, diagnosis, treatment planning and tracking. As a conclusion, the system ensures advancements for automated diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis.

Bu amacla, farkli egri turleri icin zaman icerisinde bircok yaklasim ve yontem gelistirilmis ve ilgili problemin cozumu baglaminda ise kosulmustur. Bu calismada ise benzer olarak, B-Spline egrilerinin tahmininde Pareto Zarflama-Temelli Secim Algoritmasinin kullanimi one surulmektedir. Bu kapsamda, ters muhendislik yontemleri ile ilgili algoritma yaklasimlarinin bir araya getirildigi bir uygulama ortami gelistirilip, ortaya konulmustur.

Yapay Zeka özellikle insanoğlunun zaman, hafıza ve tutarlık konusunda kısıtlı kaldığı problemlerdeki performansı nedeniyle günümüzün ve geleceğin bilim alanı olarak kabul edilmektedir. Yapay Zeka altyapısı ile üretilen araçlar genel olarak zeki sistem olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Bu noktada zeki sistemlerin en önemli avantajlarından biri de karar desteği olarak kullanılabilmeleridir. Nihai karar vermenin zaman aldığı ya da zor olduğu aşamalarda zeki karar destek sistemlerinin kullanımı etkinlik ve verimlilik kazancı sağlamaktadır. Zeki karar destek sistemleri, karar süreçlerinin olduğu birçok farklı faaliyet alanı için geliştirilebiliyor olsa da bunlardan en kritik olanı sağlık alanı olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, sağlıkta zeki karar destek sistemlerinin günümüz ölçeğindeki durumu değerlendirilmiş, ayrıca yakın ve uzak geleceğe dair çeşitli projeksiyonlar sunulmak suretiyle, Yapay Zeka-insan odaklı tartışmalara yer verilmiştir.

Önemli bir teorik altyapı gereksinimini de beraberinde getiren bu beceri, -sanıldığının aksine- genellikle hakkıyla elde edilememektedir.
