Kanye West's Creative Empire Continues to Expand

Kanye West is a DJ, rapper, producer, musician, and fashion designer, and he is now launching a creative company named after his late mother, DONDA. He described the company as a collaborative of innovators, including everything from media experts to lawyers. He has been tweeting his enthusiasm over the company and potential as a multi-platform of creativity, possibility designing everything from the Olympics to the notorious MTV VMAs.

“We need to take what Michael Jackson felt and McQueen and Steve Jobs and we need to make things better...” he tweeted.

It looks like George Clooney has found his forte in directing after the attention his political thriller, The Ides of March, which he directed, starred in, and co-wrote, has been receiving. It will be going up next week for three Golden Globes.

He is already going back to working on another film that he will be starring in, directing, co-writing, and co-producing, titled The Monuments Men, an adaptation of a WWII-era heist book about art experts assigned by the Allied governments to recover the art stolen by the Nazis out of European museums.

Hanni El Khatib Making Waves on the L.A. Music Scene

I have one of those friend who knows so much about music that it’s hard for me to understand how he holds down an unrelated full-time job. He recently suggested that I check out Hanni El Khatib, an L.A. based singer/songwriter/musician of Filipino and Palestinian decent. Hanni grew up in San Francisco where he worked as a creative director for the skateboard fashion label HUF, skateboarded, and made music. His genre is garage rock, blues, and doo-wop, and his tunes have been used in HBO’s “Hung”? I’m intrigued.
