Nicalis announced today that it will bring VVVVVV to the 3DS eShop.
According to a statement, the title will feature "the same amazingly retro gameplay, aesthetic and chiptune music" as the PC original.
"I'm very excited about it," said creator Terry Cavanagh. "This is the first time anything I've made has been on a console."
VVVVVV originally released in 2010 on PC. Nicalis calls the game "a 2D action-platformer deeply rooted in the days of 8-bit gaming with incredibly challenging gameplay and secrets."
The game follows Captain Viridian, a ship captain attempting to escape from a world that's falling apart. Gameplay involves finding each member of the ship's crew, all of whom have names that begin with V.
The game is set to hit the eShop in late 2011.
