Who would've thought that the fourth Mission: Impossible film, Ghost Protocol, would turn out to be one of, if not the, best films in the series? And now that it's bringing in the cash at the box office, reports are coming in that we can likely expect to see a fifth outing for the Impossible Missions Force too.
Clint at Moviehole reports that his sources at Paramount say "[production company] Skydance definitely wants to get going quickly on [Mission] 5." Additionally, the outfit also wants to push ahead with the rumored Top Gun sequel. Both films would star Tom Cruise.
As Clint points out, it wasn't that long ago that Paramount essentially ditched Cruise and his production company. But what a difference a dollar makes, and now that Tommy Boy has stopped jumping on couches and proven that he can still bring in audiences (with certain properties anyway), all bets are off. Maverick lives!
