Doctor Who: Amy Pond's Farewell Announced

Amy Pond, you, your Scottish accent, your red hair and your love of flannel will be missed. Executive producer Steven Moffat announced today that the next season of Doctor Who will be the last one featuring Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and her husband, Rory (Arthur Darvill). The official Doctor Who Twitter passed on the news, which Moffatt revealed at a press screening of this year's Doctor Who Christmas special in London today.

Said Moffatt, "The final days of the Ponds are coming during the next series. Then The Doctor will meet a new friend."

Said Doctor Who star Matt Smith, "the show will miss the Ponds brilliantly played by Karen & Arthur but the great thing about Doctor Who is its ability to change."


Not surprisingly, Moffatt also hinted we'll be seeing River Song again.
