Comic-Con: Should Telltale Make Jurassic Park?

I dig Telltale Games. I love the dedication to franchises such as Strongbad, I thoroughly enjoyed Back to the Future, and I'm pumped for The Walking Dead: The Game. However, I don't know if the developers are going to be able to pull off Jurassic Park: The Game. I've only seen snippets here and there -- my live demo at E3 2011 and this week's Comic-Con demo -- but something just isn't right.

Jurassic Park: The Game takes placed concurrently with the first movie. We play as a father and daughter who are trying to survive the hurricane, the dinosaurs, and the bad guys after that famous can of Barbasol. The controls are similar to Heavy Rain -- buttons pop on the screen and you click them to interact with objects, move around the environment and investigate.

I'm not against that, but when Telltale brings in dinosaurs -- these massive beasts that are fast and extremely deadly -- the layout of the game doesn't make sense. I saw a T-rex bust in, the daughter hide behind a pillar, and the T-rex just wait there and stare at her while the player weighed his choices. Same thing when the character ran up the stairs and the T-rex just nipped at her heels. The daughter even landed on the T-rex's nose at one point. This is a T-rex! It shouldn't be waiting or being outrun -- it should be seriously effing your world up.

You can die in Jurassic Park -- and we already know that's one of the best parts of the game -- but the action feels like it's paced all wrong. My uneasy feeling isn't all about gameplay. The characters are stiff looking, and the animations don't feel fluid.

Jurassic Park: The Game isn't done, so all of this is probably being tweaked. Still, I don't know if Telltale's traditional adventure game mechanics are going to make for a dynamic dino experience.
