Not that I'm a big PC gamer mind you, but it was hard to miss Half-Life when it practically stoked a revolution three years on the PC. When everybody was crazy with multiplayer Quake II, little known Valve turned the first-person shooter genre on its head with ingenious single-person gameplay, phenomenal story-telling techniques, and some of the subtlest and funny characters in a game of its kind. Needless to say, Half-Life was, and still is, a brilliant game from head to toe.
