For some uncanny reason, Looney Tunes has not made the transition well to the 21st century. The staple of our childhood and our parents' childhood has seemed to waver when connecting with today's youth, who seem contingent on more intellectual fare with the likes of the in-jokes provided by SpongeBob SquarePants and several Cartoon Network staples. We believe slapstick is universal, as does Warner Home Video, who has planned for a new Looney Tunes series to hit DVD.
The new series of Looney Tunes, dubbed The Looney Tunes Show, is coming to DVD on September 27, 2011 in the form of a Season One: Volume One release, packing the single disc will nine vignettes, ranging between CGI and normal episodes. We wouldn't expect to see much in terms of bonus features with this type of release, which will sell at the MSRP of $14.97.
