Who Else Returns in Brightest Day?

DC Comics' year-long, bi-weekly series delivered a huge surprise in its penultimate issue, ushering in the return of Swamp Thing to the DC Universe. This week, the over-sized final issue dropped another bomb. Who is the returned mystery character, and what does he have to do with Swamp Thing? Head below the image to find out!

That's right, the chain-smoking occult detective known as John Constantine is back in the DCU. The character made his first appearance in Saga of the Swamp Thing #37, functioning as an advisor of sorts to the title character. Now that Swamp Thing is back and raging in the DCU, who better to hunt him down and stop him then a former ally?



We're guessing that Vertigo's Hellblazer series, starring a more mature-themed version of the character, won't stop publishing anytime soon. It's been published monthly since 1988, and holds the prestige of being Vertigo's longest running title. This means there will technically be two Constantines in existence, which is fine by us. We'll update this story as soon as we get confirmation from DC.

UPDATE: DC Comics confirmed via The Source that Hellblazer would indeed continue. "Going forward, Vertigo will continue publishing Hellblazer as an ongoing comic book series."
