Crysis 2 Reviews
The Jury Is In
"Shift 2 Unleashed's a violent and immersive racer that recreates the driving experience like no other game on the market." -- IGN
"A bucket of road racing’s best bits. Stick your hand in and you’ll pull out something fun, if you can handle the handling." -- PC Gamer
"Many will consider the game a third place to Forza and Gran Turismo's slicker, more exacting odes to motor racing, but in terms of its social features, SHIFT 2 leads the pack, even if Autolog really is a debt owed to the Need for Speed heritage it is so eager to pull away from. " -- Eurogamer
This video shows a mostly soldier class character rampaging through the Burrwitch Slums area outside Devil's Crossing. Behold as zombies are gibbed, furniture is trashed, and... well, more things are gibbed! Rounding out the end of the video is a peak at one of the demolition class skills: canister bomb.
Pretty sexy if you ask me, I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Currently the Choplifter HD design calls for several helicopters which can be utilized throughout 20 missions. Transport still seems to be the focus, with missions built around rescuing military prisoners, and even biological weapon hot zone extractions according to GameSpot.
The novel, also entitled “RAGE”, will be written by author and game writer Matt Costello and will release on August 30, 2011. The novel will be published simultaneously in the UK and British Commonwealth by Ebury Publishing, part of the Random House Group. The novel delves even deeper into this world and its characters through the pen of Matt Costello--the same person who helped write the story for the game. The world was doomed and only some of the population could be saved. That was what the scientists were saying, at least. So the best and brightest were gathered and put into stasis deep beneath the surface of the Earth--buried so that man could live.
When Lt. Nick Raine emerges from his Ark, he finds the human race has not been wiped out. And people, as resilient as they are, are scraping together a new world from the rubble of the old. This was not what anyone in the Arks expected--a new society where might is right, mutants plague the Earth, and “friend” is a term for the person who hasn't stabbed you in the back.
The battle for Telara intensifies as world-changing invasions from the Plane of Death engulf the planet, giving Ascended heroes a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a key moment in the game’s history. Beginning March 30th, players will witness the true power of Regulos the Destroyer, and the world of RIFT will never be the same. This robust update comes less than a month after the game’s March 1st launch, making it one of the most aggressive post-launch content releases ever for a new MMORPG.

Here's a questions for the console nerds out there. Does controller brand / model make a difference in determining whether or not your skillz will be of the mad variety? It's always been my dream to become a professional Peggle or Bejewled player on the 360. Should I stick with the stock controller or buy something uber?
This Onza video is all sorts of wrong.
At the dawn of the space age, humankind was shattered into two factions: the Guardians, an oppressive company which imprisoned mankind into gigantic Star Cruisers, and the Pirates, who stole ships from the Guardians and are now searching for a new home.
In Shattered Origins: Guardians of Unity, you lead the Guardian fleet through a dangerous universe, hunting the Pirate horde. This chase will lead you to places no one has ever seen before, and before you realize, the fight becomes much more than that: a struggle for survival, and the uncovering of a terrible secret which soon turns our world into something else...

Crysis 2 already looks amazing in DX9 mode, so it'll be interesting to see how much more DX11 adds to the visuals. Thanks goes out to "N Baker" for the tip!
Update: Uh oh, it looks like Maximum PC's sources were a bit off on the release date. Crytek's Tiago Sousa did indeed confirm that they were working on DX11 features on his Twitter account, but he did not give a date. Sousa's tweet has since been removed, and Crytek Community Manager Tom Ebsworth issued the following statement:
No patch was ever confirmed, I have no idea why this website even posted such information. This thread is locked just the same as the others for trying to spread inaccurate information. When there are any big announcements regarding Crysis 2 they will be posted on MyCrysis, if you read something about a patch for example, but don't see it on MyCrysis.com, then it isn't genuine.
For the guys saying that Crysis looks better, I say get real. Crysis and Crysis Wars looked good there's no doubt about that, but there's no way at this point I could be convinced that Crysis' DX10 mode looks better than Crysis 2 in DX9. Crysis 2 is beautiful, the environments are populated with detail everywhere you look, and the only thing Crysis did better was jungles and destruction. I also have to give Crytek props on how the game now feels. For the first time ever Crytek has made an engine that feels very quick and responsive. Hit detection is spot on, and the feedback you get from your shots is instantaneous.
So I guess you guys can consider this my recommendation to pick it up for the multiplayer alone. As long as you're not expecting Far Cry or Crysis Wars you should have a very good time with the multiplayer offerings. Yeah it's different, but it all fits the design. I've heard the single player campaign is really good fun too, and I plan on giving it a shot once I can tear myself away from multi.
Anyhoo, better wrap this up. Did you guys have a nice weekend? Anyone pick up the 3DS? Oh and btw, I'm still waiting for emails from Arithon, 24thHour, and Doghell on the Black Ops: First Strike giveaway. Hurry up and get in touch with me, or I might have to redraw winners!
