The mystery of who Barney Stinson's (Neil Patrick Harris) father is has been growing on How I Met Your Mother this past year, but we're about to finally meet the mystery man – and it's the freaking Trinity Killer!
Okay, it's not, but Barney's dad will be played by the awesome John Lithgow, who so memorably played that chilling killer on Dexter last year. TVLine.com's Michael Ausiello reported the news, revealing that Lithgow will appear in "a handful of episodes" this season, as Barney's dad, Jerome Whitaker.
