Walking Dead Writer May Take on Powers

Could one of the writers from The Walking Dead be moving to another cool comic book to TV adaptation?

There's been a lot of confusion since Deadline reported last week that executive producer Frank Darabont had essentially fired the writing staff of the hit series going into Season 2. Darabont's fellow EP Gale Anne Hurd recently dismissed this report, saying the majority of the staff had simply moved on to other projects, including Charles H. Eglee, who was Darabont's number 2 on Walking Dead's first season.

So where might Eglee, a veteran of The Shield and Dexter, be moving on to? Vulture has a possible answer, and it's an intriguing one for comic book fans. It seems Eglee has been in discussions with FX and Sony Pictures Television about executive producing and writing for Powers, based on Brian Michael Bendis' comic book of the same name.

Powers has been long in development, but recent tweets from Bendis have indicated the project has been gaining momentum at FX. According to Vulture, "FX execs are said to be very high on Powers (a pilot order seems quite likely), and thanks to his Shield work, Eglee is someone the network and studio know quite well."

For those not familiar with the comic book, Powers centers on two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim. In a world where superheroes and villains exist, these two work cases involving "powers" – the nickname given to superpower-related people. Walker in the meantime maintains contacts within the powers community, thanks to his own past as superhero.
