QuakeCon 2010 Registration Info[ Comment ] 13:19 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Community NewsWeve all been waiting for word on QuakeCon 2010 registration, and its just been posted today! Its going to be a little different this time around as all registration will take place at the event that runs from Thursday, August 12th to Sunday, August 15th. Heres the official word on the matter:
July 1, 2010 (Rockville, MD) - id Software and Bethesda Softworks today announced that all attendee registration for QuakeCon 2010 will be handled on-site at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, located in Dallas, Texas, through a new and improved registration process. Designed to reduce the time BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) attendees spend waiting to register equipment, and generally better serve all those in attendance, this new and entirely on-site process will streamline every guests registration experience while still accommodating anyone that wants to take part in the BYOC.
Doors to QuakeCon will open on Thursday, August 12th at 9:00am and will remain open until noon on Sunday, August 15th. The event is free to all attendees thanks to the support of id Software and Bethesda Softworks, as well as the QuakeCon volunteer staff and the 2010 event sponsors and exhibitors. (More)

Hell and Back #640[ Comment ] 7:52 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Community NewsIt's another kool day here in the Bunker and I'm ready for another busy day. I got my reviews done to the point that today I'll write them out, and I can't tell you how much fun I had. I won't mention the review subjects just yet, but I probably will tomorrow once they're done. Both reviews are for TeamXbox, but one can be for PC gamers as well, so keep your eyes open.

New ZDBSP v1.16[ Comment ] 6:33 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Classic DoomWe've got another update from the halls of ZDoom today with the release of the new v1.16 of the ZDBSP node building tool. The new versions adds the ability to properly write nodes for maps that have 65536 vertices after node building. If you don't know what that means, then you probably don't need it, but classic DOOM map makers will be thrilled. Head over to ZDoom for the goods!
Hell and Back #639[ Comment ] 6:29 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Community NewsThis week should see things get back to normal for me, and that's a very good thing. I miss sitting in my office surrounded by monitors, searching for kool stuff to shout about and playing some of my favourite games. I've got some stuff to review this week, and one of them should be of interest to everyone no matter what, and how they play games. Toys are fun, and free toys are more funner! Arenas: The Episodes Conclusion[ 2 Comments ] 8:13 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Community NewsIt's done, it's awesome and it's here! The final episode for the Arenas: The Episodes video series has been completed and uploaded for your enjoyment by Tritin Multimedia. The newest, and last of this season pits DOOM against Xaero for the Elite ranking, but there's more in store for our hero than just one souped-up super fragger. Next to watch for is the release of the entire series as one 70-minute film, but that will be later this summer. In the meantime, dig into Episode 10!
Hell and Back #638[ Comment ] 8:12 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Community NewsYesterday was long, painful, but mostly boring. Three appointments turned into four, but I didn't have time for the new one so I'll have to see when I can get it done. Oh joy, oh bliss, oh crap! To add to the fun, my first appointment was with a doctor that disagrees with the findings and advice of another doctor, so I'll have to go to my main medical merchant to settle the issue. Just when you think you're moving ahead, you get sent back a few steps. Don't ya love it?

Map-tastic Monday![ 2 Comments ] 6:02 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Doom 3What better way to start off a week than with a couple new map releases! We've got a fresh DOOM 3 multiplayer level and a new single player level for you to dig on into, so get your shotgun ready to rock!
Disaster: DOOM 3 Multiplayer map inspired by some Q3A maps with "platforms" and "void".
Lasthope: DOOM 3 single player that has a tech/Hell look and feel with gloomy indoor action and some outdoor chaos featuring custom creatures from Revility!
Hell and Back #637[ Comment ] 5:50 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Community NewsI'm going to lose most of today and Thursday to appointments because I have something big coming up, and while it's a drag, it will take care of some things that have slowed me down recently, so it should all be worth it in the end. Hopefully I'll be all done by QuakeCon and if I get my wish, we'll hear some juice about DOOM 4 at this year's event. Wouldn't that be great?

New ZDBSP[ Comment ] 6:04 PST | Pappy-R | Print NewsA fresh new build (v1.15) of the ZDoom node builder ZDBSP has been released offering support for uncompressed extended nodes for the prBoom+ engine port. Watch for some waves in the classic DOOM universe with this one!
Hell and Back #636[ Comment ] 5:58 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Community NewsWell today is the official start of the E3 event, although this year's pre-E3 has been utterly crazy. So many E3 trailers, pic sets and press releases have come out before the event that it makes one wonder what's left. I have faith in the PR folks though and am looking forward to a steady stream of media cannon fodder.

Hell and Back #635[ Comment ] 6:22 PST | Pappy-R | Print News | Category: Community NewsI've got more appointments today, and to tell you the truth, I'm totally sick of this crap. The fun started in late April with the dog toy incident, and now I've got something new to enjoy and it's going to knock a big ugly hole in my summer. I think I'd rather be here playing and writing about games, but we don't always get to decide how our time is spent, do we? While I'm out I'm going to try and get Mrs. Pappy to take me to the mall so I can grab some Microsoft Points cards and get DOOM II on my Xboz 360. It's one of the few shooters that I can enjoy on a console thanks to its limited movement.
