Actress Evan Rachel Wood, long cast as Mary Jane Watson in the planned Spider-Man Broadway musical, has dropped out of the trouble project.
"Evan Rachel Wood has departed Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark due to a scheduling conflict," producers toldtold Variety. "Casting is underway to find a new Mary Jane to join the rest of the cast in the production."
Additionally, the industry insider mag tips "rumor mill" reports that have the much-delayed stage adaptation of Marvel's Web Slinger set for a late October/early November opening date with preview performances starting late in summer.
Wood would have appeared opposite singer-actor Reeve Carney who was cast as Peter Parker in November. Alan Cumming plays Norman Osborn/Green Goblin.
