Batman: The Brave and the Bold: "The Eyes of Despero!" Review - February 9, 2009, TV Reviews
For the majority of its first season, Batman: the Brave and the Bold has managed to deliver considerable entertainment thanks almost entirely to the wonderfully wacky spirit that has fueled the series since its debut. By and large, it's been that manic energy, and not the strength of its relatively simplistic and all-ages friendly storylines, that has made most episodes worthwhile to adult audiences. That said, the series' latest episode, "The Eyes of Despero," marks a significant breakthrough for the series, as it's an episode that contains all the lovable goofiness that has made this show enjoyable, but also includes a juicy, high concept plot that viewers both old and young can sink their teeth into. It's by far the best episode of the young series, and hopefully a sign of what's to come.
