December 11, 2007 - Throughout the ages, there have been many epic brawls staged in all sorts of arenas… But never until Hero Showdown have they been this bitterly debated.

IGN Stars' battle royale, with the brothers Mario and Luigi facing off against Sega's blue rodent, Sonic, and his pal Tails, resulted in the kind of action one expects when pitting the console's mascots against each other. The winner, by a considerable margin, was (drum roll, please)… the plumbers Mario and Luigi!

The star of the recent Super Mario Galaxy kicked Sonic into oblivion with the help of over 16,000 votes, 66% of those votes all going to him and Luigi. Sonic and Tails settled for 33.9% and a trip back to Genesis's better days.

Well played, Nintendo's finest. And the Hero Showdown continues…
