Update: Friend Lists
In an alternate universe devoid of delays, today would have been the day when we'd finally be playing this game – December 3 was supposed to be Brawl's release date, originally. And though we still won't be able to buy the latest Smash installment for another couple of months, many fans had hoped that today's original intended significance would prompt, at the very least, something newsworthy on the SmashBros.com blog.
Not so much. Today's update is really just a new handful of screenshots showing how to go through the Friend Code registration process, and doesn't reveal anything we didn't already know. Take a glance at the new shots by clicking below, and perhaps have yourself a moment of planning out what you want your Wi-Fi taunts and tagline to be. Then, join the rest of us in abject disappointment as we continue the march ahead to February 10.

Update: Melee Stages, Zelda II Great Temple Music
After yesterday's confirmation that the Events Mode from Super Smash Bros. Melee would returned, it seems Sakurai decided to keep with the same theme and confirm something else that's coming back from the last Smash installment – its stages. Not all of them, of course, but several of the best past Melee stages will be making the leap to Brawl, recreated faithfully to how they appeared before. It will be cool to see how the new characters and abilities Brawl is introducing will interact with the older arenas.
The first stage to be shown is the biggest Melee had to offer, its Hyrule Temple arena. And, along with new screens showing it off, a new piece of background music was offered up as well – this time, players will have the choice to listening to a remix of Zelda II's Great Temple theme while battling on the Melee Temple stage. You can click over to our Music section to download an mp3 of the track.

Update: Events Mode
Events Mode made its debut in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where it offered players a set of 51 unique challenges to experience and overcome. Some of the challenges were straightforward, like simply defeating the opponent put before you. Others had specific rules put in place restricting your moves, or took place on unique surfaces. Events Mode is coming back for Brawl, and looks to operate in much the same way again. Who or what will be unlocked by successfully completing the Events this time around?

Update: Wario's Final Smash
Sakurai's been on a string of Final Smash updates of late, having revealed the ultimate techniques of Ike, Lucas and the Ice Climbers in the just the past few weeks. Today, he's keeping the streak alive with Wario – whose Final Smash transforms him into the mega-powerful Wario-Man! Wario-Man is a character who's appeared in a couple of the WarioWare games, and for Brawl he's been adapted as a souped-up version of standard Wario. He'll move faster, hit harder, and have a few altered moves, but you'll still pretty much control him as a normal character.
...well, as "normal" as Wario is most of the time, anyway.

Updates: Widescreen Support and the Donkey Kong Theme
There's been a question up in the air for a while now, about how Super Smash Bros. would handle the transition into widescreen display. After all, this is a series where the boundaries of the screen play a big part in the gameplay – getting knocked off the edge of the visible area means you've lost a life. So Sakurai today addressed that potential issue, confirming that the "borders of death" would stay in the same place regardless of which display you're running, and providing a couple of example screenshots.
You can check those out by clicking below. And while you're clicking, make sure to click over to our Music section as well for the latest mp3 to download there – because today's update was a double, and the second half was a new remix of the original arcade Donkey Kong theme. Could this mean that a Brawl arena based on the classic construction site where Mario and Donkey Kong first debuted could be in store for us? It's looking even more likely, especially since we've had confirmations of both climbable ladders and rolling barrels in the past.
