Perfect Dark Zero the Second?
Posted by Falcon Zero at 22:44 GMT
Looks like the cat's out of the bag now.... Joystiq reports that a (keyword) rumour coming from the Official Xbox Magazine states that a press release (presumedly for the third PDZ book in Greg Rucka's trilogy) also hints that a follow-up to the game is on the way.

No word yet on what, where or when the game would be set in the timeline, so we'll have to wait on official word yet before leaving the realm of speculation and rumour.

News catch-up
Posted by Falcon Zero at 22:54 GMT
Sorry about the quiet front these last few months, been busy toying around with some other bits and pieces. Anyway, I felt I should at least catch up with the latest goings-on in the Perfect Dark world. You'll find that (a month ago, ouch) Perfect Dark: Second Front from author Greg Rucka is now out to purchase, with the third book in the trilogy no doubt well under way. Word is also out that the entire 6 issue comic series Perfect Dark: Janus' Tears is complete and available to pick up in stores (Amazon will have a six-in-one package deal available in a few days).

Other than that not much else has been going on, no mention of the next game in the series yet (if there is one), but check out Rareware's updated Jetpac title for the Xbox Live Arcade for a trip down nostalgia lane (if you can't remember Jetpac, chances are you played the minigame of it in Donkey Kong 64). Apparently PDZ has also been performing fairly well for a game its age on Xbox Live, so we'll see if Rareware decide to release any more maps for download.

Platinum Hits and new maps
Posted by Falcon Zero at 21:59 GMT
Boy, when news comes around it sure hits when you least expect it. The latest word is that Microsoft are launching the Xbox 360's classics range as Platinum Hits. Of course, as a launch title Perfect Dark Zero makes the cut with a new price of US$29.99. Apparently, apart from the original game you'll also score the four new multiplayer maps released back in June, as well as two newcomers, Facility and Ruin (no guesses needed as to what you'll find in them).

Naturally the two new maps can be downloaded from Xbox Live for current owners of the game, so no-one's left out. Hopefully with this major price drop (and an inevitable future drop on the 360 hardware itself) the game can live on for as long as possible (or until the real Perfect Dark 2 shows up). Thanks to Matt for the heads-up!

Welcome to Version 7
Posted by Falcon Zero at 12:00 GMT
Yup, it's that time of year again. As you can see I've completely rebuilt the site from the ground-up, losing HTML tables in favour of a CSS-driven structure (HTML buffs will know what that jargon means). The structure of all the pages and sections hasn't been touched, although I've restored sub menus for the two game sections to ease up any navigation hassles (it turns the overall menu in to a veritable skyscraper but it's worth the tradeoff). I've also setup a nifty rotating banner system which changes depending on where you're at in the site. Enjoy!

In other news, comic site Broken Frontier's posted a review of Janus' Tears Issue #1, giving a great thumbs up to the first of the six-part series. Go read!

Janus' Tears Issue #1 is out
Posted by Falcon Zero at 23:43 GMT
Great news for comic fans, Issue #1 of the Perfect Dark Zero-inspired comic series is showing up online at Prima Games and Amazon for a mere $3.50. I've no way of telling if it's out in actual comic stores, so let me know if you see it popping up anywhere locally. Check out our Comics section for more juciy details on the series and some visual pieces to whet your appetite.

Bridge to Arena
Posted by Falcon Zero at 05:20 GMT
Bridge Assault and Arena Showdown round out our Perfect Dark Zero mission walkthroughs. It's been a blast writing them all up (I know they should've been done months ago) and now with them all done I'll be moving on to getting more content together (after a break of course). Remember to send in any tricks, eggs or (non-multiplayer) glitches you've found!

Eric Trautmann Interview
Posted by Falcon Zero at 23:54 GMT
Remember the Welcome to the War comic first seen at last year's E3? The one where Joanna royally hands a dataDyne squad's backside to them on a silver platter? In our latest special I chat with Eric Trautmann, author of the comic and the series soon to follow. Eric talks about how he got into writing for the series, when the new comics are expected and a little info about the next novel installment Perfect Dark: Second Front. He's also been gracious in providing some preview art of the upcoming comics, swing by the Comics page or read the entire interview for all the media. Special thanks goes to Eric for taking the time to chat with me about the series!

Combat Arena is up
Posted by Falcon Zero at 08:49 GMT
If you haven't been playing much of the Combat Arena's multiplayer madness you've been missing out. Hopefully after a browse through our new Gametypes and Options, Maps, Bots and Statistics pages you'll be intrigued to try it out yourself. With all this extra Perfect Dark Zero coverage out of the way I'll be jumping back into writing up mission guides, so stay tuned for more showing up soon.

Today's update fires up two new Perfect Dark Zero sections, Mission Checkpoints and Hidden Items. Want to know where those checkpoints, hidden weapons and armor vests are? These pages should shed some light on the subject.

Navigation change
Posted by Falcon Zero at 02:03 GMT
Time for a navigation change again (last time, I promise). I've changed the navigation structure of the Perfect Dark and Perfect Dark Zero game pages so that all the sub-pages can be found in one page, instead of listed in the left-hand menu. That way no matter where you are on the site you'll have the same left-hand menu on every page. I've also started up a separate Reviews page (PDZ review coming soon) and moved the Press section back to the top level. Finally, I've setup an About the series page as a starting point for people new to the series. More content's on its way, so keep an eye out for it.

New music additions
Posted by Falcon Zero at 08:45 GMT
Swing by our Music page, I've recorded a selection of music from Perfect Dark Zero not featured on the official CD soundtrack (such as themes from Jungle Storm and Bridge Assault - I won't be offering tracks from the CD, it's easy enough to pick up from music stores or iTunes). I'm also working on some changes for the site, most notably improved navigation, so it should be done in the next few days. Enjoy the music!
