GH3 Screens and My First SKATE Videos 6:43 PST | Metal_Dom | Print News | Category: Game NewsWith Neversoft and Activision taking on Guitar Hero 3 it only seems appropriate to post the following screens for the up coming installment. I recently got round to buying Guitar Hero 2 on 360 and have been loving the Xplorer controller. Can't wait to get my hands on the Les Paul!
In addition although the SKATE demo has been out for 2 weeks now I haven't been able to post any of my in game videos because EA's SKATE website is still in beta and has been causing a lot of problems - especially for non-US users! However, enough wrinkles have been smoothed out for me to post my first and second videos. Nothing too fancy - I like to keep em smooth and realistic. Keep an eye out on my YouTube for any more I feel like throwing up there and let me know what you guys think. It's going to be awesome putting some THPG videos up too.

THPG demo preview vid 4:28 PST | Metal_Dom | Print News | Category: Game NewsWhilst looking around GameSpot I stumbled upon a new video detailing a little more on the upcoming THPG demo set to be release on to XBL (and possibly PSN?) this September. The demo is confirmed to display, among other things, the following features:
Modifying the environment
Nail-the-Grab (although looks like Nail-the-Manual is in there too)
Check out the buildings, landmarks, skate spots and accompanying screenshots - they're pretty cool, can't wait to skate Love Park again!

PS2 Hawk Titles Back Online! 3:27 PST | slateman | Print News | Category: Game Newsbi0hacker has put together a tutorial on how to get all your old Hawk titles back online! As you may know, Activision has officially shut down some of the old servers and many of you have cried as these are your favorite Hawk games. We're talking about THPS 4, THUG, THUG 2, and THAW.
I haven't tested these out, but BGoat sent me the link saying that it's not difficult and only an adjustment in the network adapter disk is necessary. The tutorial can be found here and the discussion here. Very cool for you gamers who have been stuck online-less.

Tim Buckley's Skating Thoughts 8:32 PST | Metal_Dom | Print News | Category: Game NewsAs an enormousCtrl+Alt+Del fan it's no surprise I'm posting creator Tim Buckley's thoughts on the SKATE demo and comparison with TH games. Even though all gamer's tastes differ from game to game I often find myself agreeing with Tim and frequently check out games on his recommendation. I don't think he's saying anything that hasn't already been said about SKATE but he's hit the nail on the head.
First up the latest in THPG videos, a five minute interview fresh from Leipzig with the Birdman himself has surfaced over at Gamespot. Credit to mrbreeze1217.
Also noticed Kotaku's brief impressions from Leipzig, looking forward to finding out how "Jabba the Hutt's stiffy" will feature in the game!!
Also we know a few tracks were confirmed but now we can release the full soundtrack for THPG with over 50+ songs to listen to while we tear it up.
Thirdly, as all fellow Guitar Hero freaks will know Neversoft is spearheading the third installment, 'Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock' and perhaps it comes as no suprise that they announced yesterday that there will be an exclusive demo of GH3 bundled with THPG! Neversoft staff member Chris Vance over at ScoreHero has announced:
"Players who purchase the Tony Hawks Proving Ground game for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will get an exclusive two week head start on experiencing the demo to this years hottest music based video game before its release on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. "
Kickass!

Charts 17:31 PST | slateman | Print News | Category: Game NewsI've been meaning to do this for a while. Check out the following two charts. The first, Hawk Games By Platform, has a listing of all 20 platforms Hawk games have appeared on. Which has the most? It's not the PS2, click through to see more.
The second counts the number of versions per game. With a total of 12, THPS 4 wins that contest. Interestingly enough, THPG will have the fewest number of titles (barring THDJ) for the Hawk series. Check out the Hawk Titles By Game chart.
SKATE demo release date finally set 7:30 PST | Metal_Dom | Print News | Category: Skating NewsFor all skateboarding/video game enthusiasts it's an exciting time and with the new challenger EA promising a demo of SKATE for 15th Aug the excitement grew. Then it was announced that Microsoft had encountered a problem putting the demo on Live because of the video submission feature. Oh noes! So nearly a week late it's a relief to get this news from IGN and with this post from Scott on the EA forums confirming that it will be gracing Xbox 360s this Tuesday the 21st. Be sure to expect a first impressions article later that day!

Gamespot tells me the latest vid showing off THPG gameplay has dropped with a focus on the 'career skater' from the classes feature. Make sure you check out the mechanics of the different Nail-the-Trick modes and the skater classes menu.

THPG for DS First Look 16:20 PST | Metal_Dom | Print News | Category: Game NewsNews on the DS version of THPG has been very rare but following up on our first glimpse of how it'll look we can now report a little more on how it will play, thanks to this preview over at Gamespot. It appears that our speculation was pretty accurate with "gesture tricks," which will have you drawing on the touch screen to perform various tricks while in the air but seemingly only at special sections of the map.

THPG Miscellanea 8:49 PST | slateman | Print News | Category: Game NewsSo, as I drove the 120 miles south to the airport, the rain hit. It came hard and fast. I could barely see. After 20 minutes, I thought that the flight would be delayed. A quick call to my wife and another to the airline confirmed this. With only a 70-minute layover in Philly initially, I couldn't afford much more of a delay. The rain continued, beating on the window fiercely. The subsequent call told me what I needed to know. The delay would make my layover impossible. I didn't leave Maine. I didn't go to Los Angeles. I didn't play Tony Hawk's Proving Ground.
BGoat got to go, so he'll probably write up his thoughts on it all. However, in the meantime, we have some new updates for you all.
The NDS images are the first seen and they show the filmer portion and something about gesture tricks. Could that be using the stylus (I hope not)? Actually, looking at that image, it looks like you may have to draw images while skating? Pure speculation, of course.
More to come, Dom and I are going to do our best. Let us know if you want anything specific.
Official Box Art 5:12 PST | Metal_Dom | Print News | Category: Game NewsWell here we go. We said we'd get it eventually and what-dya-know it's the same one! In my daily check up of Wikipedia and GameSpot, I noticed that the Xbox 360 Box Art and the PS3 Box Art have been released! What also catches my attention is that the release date on GS is October 26th rather than the October 10th we'd been speculating. Hmm interesting. I guess we'll have to wait for it to come straight from the horse's mouth. With all this in mind many eyes are on SKATE this weekend as the demo should drop on XBL on the 15th.EDIT: I just checked on EA's forum and staff member Scott has stated that the demo will be held back "a few days" and "hopefully not more than a week".
Fancy a skate? 4:39 PST | Metal_Dom | Print News | Category: Game NewsIn the past I've had a good few emails asking to join clans and for my gamer tag on Xbox Live and each time I've had to admit, shamefaced, that I don't have XBL. That is until a few days ago! So if any of you have it and fancy a quick game of THP8 then feel free to add me: SnakeByte24
