News we've been waiting for 08:21 | Bo The release date for the new Smash Bros game for North America is 3 December 2007. Mark you calendars, boys `n girls, for this is an important date. However, it would appear that final exam scores for the end of the fall term may regrettably drop a few marks, seeing as to how the game will be released so close to the end of the term. But some things may be worth that muchmaybe.
Updates? 00:16 | Zou As you already might know, the Smash Dojo page is being updated regularly.
Bo is still working on the page overhaul for Brawl and I've been tied up with a few non-SSBA projects. In short, we're still alive. Please bear with us as we work through this transition.
New Forums 14:25 | Zou A new Smash game is coming out and we shut down our forums. Are we crazy?
Yes, but now we're back up. The new forum is run by old members of the SSBA forums. It's called The Smash Syndicate or TSS for short. They're a gang of cool cats who organized a place where people can talk about Smash and also have fun (as if talking about Smash wasn't fun enough).
So, you guys, especially those of you who frequently post in the comments section (yes, I'm looking at you guys), should go to TSS...or else I'll sick Halo fanboys on you.
Final Smash 14:22 | Zou For those of you who aren't obsessively checking Smash Dojo, there is an update of relative interest that helps quell our curiosity from the debut of the Brawl trailer. Shortly after grabbing the mysterious orb with the Smash insignia on it, our heroes did what was best described as a 'super combo'. Today's Smash Dojo update fills in that gap in knowledge:
quote:"The Final Smash is a secret skill that can be performed but onceand only after obtaining an item called the Smash Ball, which is a precious item, indeed.
Each character has a custom Final Smash which will be added to the site as time progresses.
Just for Fun 15:50 | Zou Oh my god, it's a miracle, Bo posted news.
On an unrelated note, there are veryboredpeople on the internet waiting for this game.
Also, fellow member PaulPool brought attention to this juicy piece of gossip. Apparently, some journalist was able to derive information from Nintendo without breaching the non-disclosure agreement from Nintendo's Press Summit that was held recently. I contacted Nintendo of America's PR department and they could not confirm this supposed fact sheet.
New Item: Gooey Bomb 11:32 | Bo The Dojo has updated with a new item from the game: the Gooey Bomb. The Gooey Bomb contains an explosive enclosed in a mucilage (a gelatinous adhesive) that will detonate a few moments after impact. This item is more potent than the Proximity Mine due to its ability to stick to both terrain and opponents. However, it is possible to pass this item to an unsuspecting opponent through simple physical contact, which respectively gives 'tag' a whole new dynamic meaning. More pictures can be view at the official site here.
Coming up... 07:52 | Zou The Smash Dojo site has us expecting periodic updates to the site which is enough to distract most fans from a lack of release date. With Nintendo's media summit looming ahead in a few hours, one can only hope for the release a new trailer.
Needless to say, there's a lot of material that is new to the site.
Here's a brief rundown on the new content:
A brief introduction to the Smash Brothers game. Basic game mechanics seems to be similar to Melee.
The new screen shots are those used for the brief overview of game mechanics.
There seems to be some more examples of dynamic levels as screen shots show the same stage during different times of the day.
Looks like a lot of A-list composers will be doing music for this game. And by a lot, I mean, so much that it is just too much to list on this page right now.
Speaking of music, there's a sample clip of revamped music that will be included in the new game from the SSBM, the 'Menu' theme.
Starting Today? 12:06 | Zou The last seven days have been the most exciting as the Halo 3 Beta went public and StarCraft 2 was officially announced. But none was supposed to be exciting as the newest updates to Smash Dojo, the official Nintendo site for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
The countdown now replaced with the words "Starting Today" leaves many a fanboy and fangirl puzzled. Left without my translator, I visited GameFAQs board and was informed that the site would open at around noon in Japan. That means we'll get to see it at 10:00 p.m. central.
That's all for now, Cheers.
EDIT: So the Nintendo of Japan site apparently has information about the delay of Smash Dojo's relaunch. Unfortunately, I do not know any Japanese so I cannot report any certainty in when the site will be coming back up. If anybody would be so kind to help a brother out and transcribe what's going on at the Nihongo's site, that would be teh awesomeness.
Official Site Update 04:35 | Zou So it seems like the official site, SmashBros.com, has been updated. Unfortunately we've been left with less information than before with numbers indicating days until the website comes back up. So what does this mean? Inevitable release date? More screenshots and teasing?
