World at War Interview
13:49 PST | AdmiralQuesadilla | Print News | Mail News
Our very own D3pth has conducted an interview with members of the World at War team. Read through all three pages as he asks the questions that have been on everybodys mind. I recommend you all read it it is very interesting as the team discloses some technical information about the mod, as well as how the gameplay mechanics will work. There are also plenty of exclusive images scattered throughout the interview.

So sit back, relax, and take the time to absorb the fine writings between D3pth and the World at War team. Feel free to post your thoughts or comments on our message board afterwards.

New Poll
10:02 PST | Pratt | Print News | Mail News
This week's Poll Results are in. In this one, we asked for your impression of the new Steam design:
(50%) Like it: 646 votes
(17%) Don't like it: 213 votes
(33%) There's a new Steam design?: 428 votes

Total Votes: 1287
In the end, it seems you like the new GUI by a 3:1 margin, while 1/3 of you didn't even realize there was a new design (oops!). Thanks everyone for voting!

A little off-topic this time, this week's poll asks how soon you will buy the new Windows Vista, set to be released (depending on what part of the world you are in) in mere hours.

As always, we've hidden the new poll somewhere on this page ...

ModDB Winners Announced
13:52 PST | AdmiralQuesadilla | Print News | Mail News
And so ends ModDBs "Mod of the Year" competition. The winners have been posted, the suspense has subsided, and the victory dances have been made.

Without a doubt, the charts were all dominated by Source and GoldSrc games. Congratulations to the mods that received recognition this year and good luck next time to those who did not. In any case, I can tell you that this year will be an exciting one for mods as Half-Life 2 has been out for quite some time and those development teams working since the beginning are inching closer to release.

The Beloved Crossbow
13:40 PST | AdmiralQuesadilla | Print News | Mail News
In case you have not yet noticed, a brand-new article has been posted to Planet Half-Life. Now, I love my crossbow as much as the next bunnyhopping Half-Life aficionado (especially when I get that blast of euphoria when nailing that NPC or player from half-way across the map), but Vodstok takes the cake with his in-depth analysis on what makes the crossbow so damn great. Take a read through the article and post your own opinion on our forums.

Revolt: The Decimation Announcement and Teaser Trailer!
15:44 PST | D3pth | Print News | Mail News
I received quite an interested email the other day from a few members of LanClan who have apparently been working for some time on an impressive-looking team-based total conversion for Half-Life 2.
My brother and I are proud to present Revolt, The Decimation, a team-based multiplayer total conversion for Halflife2. After almost two years of development, we now carry a prototype of our solid clan controlled combat shooter. This modification was created from the ground up only using the powerful Source Engine as our host. Every texture, sound, model and animation is homebrew between my brother, Michael, and myself, Daniel. We have been playing The Decimation on LAN with our clan internally for the past few months now as we refined everything down to a solid state. Our game types and weapon systems are unlike any other and make for true balanced competitive play that only the advanced gamer can harness.

Breaking silence, we decided to reveal early footage of our game with this short trailer. We still have a ways to go in the visuals, but the mechanics are all in place and we can already feel the potential this Revolt offers.

We are The Brothers of LANCLAN! Some of you may remember our previous TC for Call of Duty in 2004 called Revolt 1x, or perhaps some of our Battlefield42 maps. If not, head on over to lanclan.com and join our humble community. We are looking forward to your feedback and suggestions!
