November 17, 2004 - Australian singer/songwriter Ben Lee will be releasing a new record in February of 2005. Entitled Awake Is the New Sleep, it will be put out on the independent New West Records label.

Lee first broke out on the indie rock scene as part of the punky Australian teen rock outfit The Noise Addicts. He came to the attention of U.S. music lovers when the Beastie Boys released his solo debut Grandpaw Would on their Grand Royal imprint in 1995.

Lee has released a total of four full-length solo albums, including the aforementioned Grandpaw Would. They are: Something To Remember Me By in 1997, Breathing Tornados in 1999, and Hey You, Yes You in 2002.

For the recording of Awake Is The New Sleep, Lee once again teamed up with veteran producer Brad Wood (who worked with Lee on his debut, as well as Something To Remember Me By, and a few of the Noise Addict projects, and is also known for his past work with the likes of Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins, and Tortoise, to name a few). The songs on the album focus on the intricate nuances that surround us during every waking moment.
