John Louis Esposito (ur. 19 maja 1940 w Brooklynie, zm. 15 lipca 2026[1]) – amerykański islamoznawca. Jego prace naukowe zostały przetłumaczone na ponad 45 języków[2].

Życiorys

Wykładał na College of the Holy Cross w Worcesterze oraz na S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies w Singapurze[2]. Następnie został wykładowcą islamistyki na Uniwersytecie Georgetown[3].

Założył Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, którego został dyrektorem[4][2], objął także funkcję wiceprzewodniczącego Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy[3].

Był redaktorem naczelnym The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World oraz The Oxford History of Islam[3][2].
