this is such a funny trojan horse! forcing the post-punk kids to listen to endless psych jams

I just picked up a picture disc copy of this great album today ( thanks Jacks’s Record Stache in Linden, mi). And I continue to be amazed at the great sound coming from the cure picture discs. As always though, every Cure album is aided by a couple db boost on the treble. Kind of cool this concert was recorded only about 30 mins from my home at the palace of auburn hills MI, RIP.

This pressing is high quality and has zero noise on the record. Might be the best pressed record I own.

En general tiene un sonido decente, más no destacable. La voz de Robert Smith se escucha en primer plano, muy principal, los arreglos de sintetizadores son prístinos, sobre todo se nota en High o Pictures of you. Personalmente creo que la batería suena algo apagada, opaca, y un poco aplastada por los demás instrumentos. Una presentación en gatefold se hubiese agradecido.

Picture Disc, Reissue, Remastered - listened to all four sides now and NOT disappointed! i got into the band on 'Disintegration' but more so 'wish' when they had more of a rock edge. I bought a extended 2 CD version of Disintegration that is GREAT with all the out takes/live material - this x2LP is very much in the same spirit but all LIVE performances of this period in the bands tour. I'm a big fan of 'live' albums - this is far beyond my expectations both in look and sound. When i saw 'from the edge of the deep green sea' LIVE i HAD to hear it - yeah it's great!

I'm surprised that the biggest issue of this release has not been brought up yet. The end of every side has an abrupt cutoff of crowd noise, since the audio is just taken from the 2CD edition. Aside from that, the sound quality is fine.

on my copy, there are two skips at the very beginning of "Just Like Heaven" ... & it's not my turntable setup. definitely a pressing issue or scratched somehow (before I opened it?) I don’t lament the missing intro of this classic too much because the rest of the album is so magical and the rest of the tracks play fine, but it still kinda sucks

Also agree with another reviewer here that there is lots of surface noise on all disks that is only luckily drowned out by the beautiful music.

Sounds great, you can crank this one as loud as you want. But my copy suffers from the infamous disc rot/bronzing that PDO was known for during this time period.

A reissue was an opportunity to add a third record with the Encore tracks presented on the VHS like the famous extended version of A Forest… to wish impossible thing. . .
A shame.

I was hesitant to pick this up due to poor reviews, but on first listen, it sounds wonderful. Granted I mostly listened to this on CD in my Ford Escort with a tape adapter, but there’s nice separation of instruments on this double vinyl. The synths are airy, Simon’s bass tones are round, and Robert’s voice is nuanced. I’m glad to have all missing tracks. The distorted Fascination Street and the shimmering The Walk are standouts. People complain about a lack of gatefold, but the printing is not cheap. Both front and back use spot varnish beautifully on a slightly glittered grey background. I’ve always enjoyed Andy Vella’s design on this one, and the colors really come to life here. The grid of photos on the back is very well done. Between gatefold and quality printing, I definitely prefer the latter.
