Typography options are disappeared from style on Section/Column/Inner section widget #10592

I'm having the same issue can't use the Typography from the Section/Column/Inner section, please look into this issue. |
+1 Same here.
But this "feature" neither works as advertised (not showing previous settings or the deprecation note), nor there is a reason, why to drop this setting (at least until, something better will come). It was really handy to have the possiblility to change the align (or other settings) for the whole section in one place, instead of doing this for all the widgets inside. It's easier to maintain and it reduces the CSS bloat. |
+1 for this. It was a very handy feature indeed! |
Please do reinstate this feature. Removing the feature now makes typography aspects, such as link, hover states more difficult on a per page basis. |
A wholehearted +1. Removing this has left a hole that hasn’t been filled by other features/improvements. |
Would be nice if this comes back. Theme styling in combination with typography for columns and sections would be a killer feature :-) No coding and enough flexibility with the styling. Now I feel a bit like a WordPress user from 2 years back. Restrictions within a theme ;-( That’s the whole point I switched all my sites to Elementor, but now I would like to have the quick workflow to remain |
need this back asap... same happened with removed handles... so please find a way to give us this feature back. |
Removing this feature has been catastrophic to our workflow. The whole idea of using a GUI based builder gets thrown out of the window starting right at the header with horizontal navigation that you now need to use custom CSS just to remove underlines. (How many sites have you seen with underlined links in their headers?) It feels like the dev team was so focused on global styling that they lost sight of the original purpose of the application. As a result, our newest project has been the first we will build with Oxygen, but hope to return to Elementor when the developers realign their development path with the client needs. |
+1 this is really important Elementor. |
Bring it back please. This removes a very handy feature which has not been replaced in any way by upgrading to the latest version. In fact this opens the door to CSS bloat and therefore is not a good move. |
+1 Theme Style features are nice, but having the ability to independently style individual columns / sections offers more flexibility. |
+1 Please reinstate this feature. |
This bothers me because I bought Elementor based on its ease and being able to adjust each section individually. I know HTML and CSS but love the drag-and-drop features and quick changes that can be made, especially with these now-missing optins. I loved how easy it was to design each section with different colors, typography, etc. and think it's truly bad user experience to remove them. I think the theme styling is great and there is a use for it but, to remove these other options, isn't helpful at all. It shouldn't be an "either or" choice but a "this and that" option, if that makes sense. |
Removing this made me lose my hope a bit in elementor. Have the devs like ever made a website themselves? |
+1 on this! The inability to easily change a link colour by section without resorting to custom CSS is a retrograde step. |
+1 Theme Style features are nice, but having the ability to independently style individual columns / sections offers more flexibility. |
Puzzled by the removal of this functionality. What is the road map that makes this a desirable change? With no road map view, I'd say I'd like this functionality back please. |
+1 Please reinstate this feature. |
+1 on this! |
Re-adding this functionality makes sense no matter what Style Kits do today or tomorrow. Please bring it back! |
+1 on this! |
it was a really handy feature. it's so sadly |
Please add this back in. This is a must have feature for this paying user. |
would really love to hear the idea behind removing such an essential feature. and how we should now handle this if we need it per section or column, or even per pages on a site. looking forward to get an offical info about this. |
I'm interested in hearing the reasoning for removing this, and your recommended workflow accordingly. Keeping typographic styles consistent is difficult in the page builder. |
+1, please return this functionality. |
+1 theme styles are good but having the flexibility to easily change some items on a per needed basis is essential to me. For example what if I make a dark section or a call to action section that doesn't fit my global styling? How am I then supposed to style that section? |
We should have the choice of both Global theme styles and individual section styles. I am not activating the newest version because of this. Please return the feature in the next version. |
It's discouraging to see the dev's responding to other threads while ignoring this thread - which is the most commented on thread in Elementor's GITHUB recent history. Also makes that whole "Support is available through GitHub" a bit of a hollow promise. Oh, we are now told that saying +1 is how we get you to fix problems. That must be why there's been no reply. Some of us forgot the +1. Ignore that fact that there were 28 comments. |
+1 I think it's been said by everyone above. |
+1 - if the dozens of comments didn't make that known already. |
+1 this should be restored |
+1 Yes please fix - local styling for links - please return. 1 link style for a whole website... really!??? |
still no offical answer? a bit concerning i have to admit. |
I was thrilled when I discovered this feature. Why would they remove it?? |
For the amount of time this thread has been going (6 days to this point) and also the number of comments (37 to this one) it's a bit strange that no dev or Elementor rep has provided any explanation or presentation of their intended pathway, with detail of both developments in the next updates and timescales for deployment of updates. Any feedback from the dev team would be very much appreciated. Thank you. |
I need this back asap! What‘s the whole point in having libraries full of different colored sections (dark ones and light ones) and being able to combine different looks on a per-sections basis if we can‘t change link colors etc. on those sections without styling tons of elements or going back to dark age CSS. The concept of alternating section backgrounds is one of the reasons I came to Elementor, it is used in all my current projects. Please give us a possibility to overwrite Theme Styles on a per section setting. |
+1 for this. I too think that this thread at least deserves a response from the development team. I think that it was a poor decision to remove this feature before an equivalent method is added (which I've heard is coming in Elementor 3.0). |
Thought you all would appreciate an update on this from support:
It's good to see some reaction from the Elementor Crew but, to me, it's clear in their response that perhaps they don't understand the impact on some of removing the typography option. Now, I get why there may be some technical difficulties, alongside Theme Style but, by virtue of the fact that if you had previously used typography settings in a section, they remain intact after updates, then, surely it can't be beyond a quick fix? |
Another +1 here. I used this feature in literally every site I've made in ele. |
Another +1 from me. Hopefully we can get a feedback from dev crew why this disappeared ... |
Adding a +1 from me! |
In terms of the issue of mobile numbers becoming the link colour on devices, if you add |
+1, please return this functionality. |
Please return the ability to set typography for Sections. This feature was in Elementor since day 1 and we're used to it being there. I'm not a web developer guru which is why I started using Elementor way back in the beginning - ease of use. But you guys keep changing and adding more and more to it. It happens with all software. Develop something great and then add too much to it and it becomes complicated and less useful. |
+1 - Same question; please return the feature. |
C'mon Elementor, you can do MUCH better than that! Hope to see this functionality added back ASAP. |
+3000, Please bring back this feature. It is a must-have option |
I feel strongly that this feature should return. Support told me to set the color on the widget individually but that means I'm repeating everything twice or more. Plus I used to be able to set the color for global widgets via this feature based on the background of the section. Yes please bring it back. |
Thank you all for your feedback. This feature has been restored in Elementor v2.9.7 Thanks! |
Thank you for being responsive to the requests and re-adding the feature, we appreciate it @shilo-ey . |
It's like Elementor was a car and one day just took away the ability to turn on the aircon in your car and asked you to use the window instead but didn't tell you they were removing the aircon. |
Does it show up if roll back to 2.9.8? |
The latest version should have it reinstated so no reason to go back... |

Prerequisites
Steps to reproduce
After I upgraded the Elementor plugin to 2.9.2, the Typography options are disappeared from the style tab on Section/Column/Inner section widget.
I've disabled the style on the Elementor setting already.
Here is the typography field.
