Use BuddyPress About Me Value in Author Box

Hi,
Is there a way to use Buddypress “about me” section on the user profile as the Author Box description?
I tried to change
<div class="author-desc"><?php the_author_meta( 'description' ); ?></div>to
<div class="author-desc"><?php bp_the_profile_field_value(); ?></div>but it doesn’t work.
