Optimize your CDN population costs and leverage direct connectivity to select CDN providers.
What is CDN Interconnect?
CDN Interconnect allows select CDN providers to establish direct peering links with Google's edge network at various locations.
Your network traffic egressing from Google Cloud Platform through one of these links benefits from the direct connectivity to the CDN providers and is billed automatically with reduced pricing.
Work with selected CDN providers help you set up your deployment.
Typical CDN Interconnect Use Cases
High Volume Egress traffic
If you're populating your CDN with large data files from Google Cloud, you can optimize this traffic by using the CDN Interconnect links between Google Cloud and selected providers.
Frequent content updates
Cloud workloads that frequently update data stored in CDN locations will benefit from using CDN Interconnect because the direct link to the CDN provider reduces latency for these CDN destinations. For example, if you have frequently updated data served by the CDN that is originally hosted on Google Cloud Platform, and is frequently updated, you might consider using CDN Interconnect.
Pricing
The special pricing for your traffic egressing from GCP to a CDN provider is automatic. Google works with the CDN provider you choose to whitelist that provider's IP addresses. This means that any data you send to your whitelisted CDN provider from GCP is charged at the reduced price.
Traffic between Google Cloud Platform and pre-approved CDN Interconnect locations is billed as follows:
Ingress:
- Free for all regions.
Egress:
The following egress rates only apply to data leaving Google Compute Engine or Google Cloud Storage.
- Intra-region CDN Interconnect traffic*:
- NA: $0.04/GB
- EU: $0.05/GB
- APAC: $0.06/GB
- Inter-region CDN Interconnect traffic:
- See Internet Egress traffic fees
* This pricing will only apply to intra-region egress traffic that is sent to CDN providers approved by Google at specific locations approved by Google for those providers. You should consult with your CDN provider on whether they are an approved provider and, if so, which of their CDN locations are approved for this program. They can help you set up your deployment to use intra-region egress routes when using Google Cloud Platform as origin source.
