A great article on why facts just don't matter: "They cite research suggesting that people experience genuine pleasure-a rush of dopamine-when processing information that supports their beliefs. “It feels good to ‘stick to our guns’ even if we're wrong.”"

  2. This is such a great tweet that I think Antonio Brown Twitter has now peaked.

  3. Politico: "The review comes as additional instances of military personnel staying at Trump properties have been uncovered." It won't amount to anything, but at least exposes yet another area where Trump is profiting from being president.

  4. Wow: "The U.S. Air Force has ordered a world-wide review of how it chooses overnight accommodations... following revelations that air crews had occasionally stayed at Donald Trump's Scotland resort while refueling at a small commercial airport nearby."

  6. As the NFL begins its 100th season, a good time to remember how Trump quickly turned on the league after they rejected his efforts to buy the Buffalo Bills.

  7. The Lions were 99.1% favorites to win at the start of the 4th quarter when they led 24-6. They're lucky to have ended in a tie.

  8. "Tie game" are the two most evil words in NFL football, but the Lions and Cardinals have pulled it off in week one.

  9. The most Trumpian thing about his trade war is that the people being hurt the most by it (farmers, manufacturers, builders, etc) are the very people he claimed to be protecting by starting it. To be fair, we all said this was going to happen, but the irony is hard to ignore.

This exchange is hilarious. And also a reminder that with many largely-popular candidates still running, & 6 months to go, a lot remains fluid, & quick poll responses need not be set in stone.

  12. Me in 2015/16 watching Republican after Republican sell their soul to go full MAGA for Donald Trump.

  13. If someone said "Can you show me an example of how completely unhinged and debased going full MAGA has made people," this picture of would be up there.

  16. And 2020 candidates do not have to say that Donald Trump is a decent man, but they absolutely could say "We have an infinite number of disagreements with Trump, but let's rise above his rhetoric and not use terms such as mentally retarded." It's really not hard to do at all.

  17. After Kamala Harris laughed and said "well said" twice in response to a voter calling Trump mentally retarded, here's John McCain showing how you reply to people in those situations. That's a standard that I wish all candidates would strive for in 2020.

  18. I'm still shocked that Trump invited Taliban leaders to meet with him face-to-face at Camp David just before 9/11. But I'm at a loss for words that he thought it was a good idea to announce it on Twitter after his plan fell apart because he learned the Taliban can't be trusted.

  19. There are still 148 days until the Iowa Caucuses... Those 148 news cycles will feel like 10 lifetimes. And then from there we have *another* 274 days until the 2020 election. We'll all be wishing for death by asteroids by the time that day finally gets here.

  20. If you think those four state polls are telling some different stories, just look at the calendar of primaries: Feb 3: IA Feb 11: NH Feb 22: NV Feb 29: SC It is going to be an absolute roller-coaster especially if Biden were to take Iowa only to lose New Hampshire 8 days later.
