r/microscopy Rules

All media posts must include these details: Objective mag, scope model, camera, sample type

All media posts must include a description of the setup used to capture the subject. The details can be included in any combination of the title/post/or comments. At a minimum, the objective magnification, scope model, camera, and sample type are required. Additional info is encouraged, such as the NA of the objective, the illumination technique, how you prepped the sample, etc.

Images should be cropped and of a high standard

Avoid posting blurry, uncropped images.

No toxic behavior, no offensive or inflammatory language

Remember that there are humans on the other side of your screen and keyboard.

Don’t be spammy

Spammers will be banned

Request permission before posting medically significant questions

Medical professionals, researchers, or students are able to request permission to post medical questions.

"Significance," while not a hard-reauirement for this rule's enforcement, is anything that should be a discussion with a doctor. Examples of this include: "what is this inside me?", "why is my fluid this color?", etc. adjacent questions.

Moderators may use post/comment history for additional context when making a decision.

Human samples must be marked NSFW with the title clearly indicating what the sample is

This especially includes bodily fluids, but also includes hair, skin, and samples of debris taken from the skin

Human samples must be not include personal information on the identity of the sample source

If you post an image or video of a sample which came from a human, you must not include the name, username, or other irrelevant personal information of the person the sample came from. If you post an image of a human sample that is from your own body, you should not indicate that it is from you. This includes posting an image, then implying in the comments that it is from you.

No reposts or uncredited plagiarism

Reposts are not allowed. This sub is for original content. However, you may post an image from another person, if the image has not previously been posted, and if you credit the origin of the content with a link to the content owned by the creator eg a link to the image on the creator's instagram

No wilful misinformation

There are probably no aliens building nano-cities in your sample.
