Dig Into Calgary’s Layered and Ever-Evolving History
BEYOND THE HISTORY BOOKS: EXPLORING STORIES OF THE LAND is a new experience at The Confluence that invites you to explore stories carried by the rivers, rooted in the plants, and uncovered through archaeology.
WHERE STORIES
COME TOGETHER
Like the Bow and Elbow rivers that meet here, so do countless stories. The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland is a destination for locals to find a sense of identity and connection to the land they live on, and where tourists can learn the stories and cultures of this special place through guided tours and events.
EVENTS AND EXHIBITS
Happening at The Confluence
From workshops and walking tours to film screenings and trivia nights, there’s something for everyone at The Confluence.
Featured Exhibit
KÃpaitápiiyssinnooni (Our Way of Life)
Experience Living Blackfoot Traditions
KÃpaitápiiyssinnooni (ghee-BAHT-ah-BEE-see-noon) means Our Way of Life in Blackfoot. This new exhibit, curated by Niitsitapi artist Star Crop Eared Wolf of the Kainai Nation, invites visitors into an immersive cultural experience rooted in Blackfoot ways of knowing, being, and belonging.
Set inside a space inspired by traditional Blackfoot lodge design, this 900-square-foot exhibit is more than a display, it’s a living environment. Every item within has been created by Blackfoot artists and knowledge keepers, reflecting a commitment to cultural sovereignty, respect, and fair compensation.
Rather than looking back at a distant past, the exhibit showcases the vibrancy and continuity of Blackfoot life today.
I'táámito'táaattsiiyio'pi
(harmonious meeting place)
In spring 2024, Blackfoot Elder Leonard Bastien Weasel Traveller gave The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland the Blackfoot name I'táámito'táaattsiiyio'pi (Eeh-daah-mee-doh-daat-tsee-yoop). We are honoured to hold this name and continue our work as a harmonious meeting place.
