    On this day in 1797, Mount Holyoke founder Mary Lyons was born. Known for being an educator and chemist, she founded Mount Holyoke in 1837. Lyons once said " Go forward, attempt great things, accomplish great things"- words that the Mount Holyoke community continue to cherish.
