We are a non-profit, with money received going towards costs of the Outer Army to support the Club.

Description
The Outer Army (OA) is an unofficial supporter group of the Port Adelaide Football Club – we have a constitution and are an incorporated body – the Outer Army name says it all really – we are an army of supporters (over 1,000 members now) who sit anywhere we wish at Adelaide Oval – this is one of the main distinctions between the OA and the Port Adelaide Cheer Squad. The OA idea is to spread support all around the ground and one way we achieve this is by handing out flags (More than 1000 since the beginning of the 2012 season). We have an idea of supplying even more flags each year to as many areas around the ground as we can helping maximise atmosphere at Power games.
When we were winning a lot of games back when the OA started in 2006 there was a large concentration of OA members sitting in the bay 132 vicinity on the eastern wing at AAMI Stadium but this progressively reduced in recent years for a variety of reasons (younger members growing up and moving interstate with their jobs, getting married and having kids and of course, the lack of success on field by our players has obviously kept some people away given our lower crowds over that time).
However, now that the Power are on the way up again and with the excitement of Adelaide Oval, we expect there will be a desire for numbers of OA members to again sit together in a big group plus there will still be the many hundreds who choose to sit in other parts of the ground – we canvassed our members in early 2013 on this group seating issue ahead of the big move to Adelaide Oval.
Apart from the flags we’ve handed out since 2012, we have also purchased our new We Are Port Adelaide material banner and, in recent years the OA had those huge floating crowd banners made up (the club’s Back in Black V logo design being on one of them) – so, the OA does do a lot of around the ground game day things to show support for our club besides our off field stuff such as our famous pre-match barbecue that sold out every time because it was so popular with our members and fellow Port supporters.
There are several other things we do to raise money for our needs (we are not funded by the PAFC) but we do donate to them in a number of ways (eg:- 3 door fridge, player GPS units and the Alberton Oval windsock etc) – finally, I want to mention our recent charity (the QEH Respiratory Unit) that we have donated to for 3 years – we also like to help a few disadvantaged people get to a game or 2 a year who otherwise cannot afford to come to the footy.
