Reader Competitions Terms & Conditions

By participating in any competition, you are deemed to accept the following rules in conjunction with any terms and conditions of any relevant third party:

1. Al Sidra Media LLC, producer of the 7DAYS Daily Newspaper and all subsidiary activity thereof, accepts no liability for any promotion of a third party featured in 7DAYS or on its website, such third party being responsible for the fulfilment of that promotion. Al Sidra Media LLC cannot be held liable or responsible for any act or omission of the relevant third party promoter.
2. The entrant to any competition is the individual submitting the media (ie the person who owns the mobile telephone or who can be reached at the relevant email address). By submitting an entry you grant Al Sidra Media full rights to the use of submitted entries at their own discretion.
3. Competitions are open for residents of the UAE only, unless stated otherwise.
4. All entrants must be aged 18 years and above. Written parental/guardian consent is required where a promotion states that participants may be under the age of 18.
5. Proof of identity, age and residency must be provided upon request.
6. Employees of Al Sidra Media LLC and the third party promoter involved, their immediate families and/or anyone professionally connected with the promotion are excluded from participation in the promotion.
7. Use of a false name or address will result in disqualification.
8. Any entrant deemed to have used unfair or illegal means to manipulate the outcome of the campaign will have his/her entry voided.
9. The prizes are as stated, not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered.
10. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winners. If the winners cannot be contacted or have failed to claim the prize by the time or in the manner specified in the communication to the winners, Al Sidra Media LLC reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrants.
11. Where applicable, the decision of the judges is final based on the criteria set out in the campaign and no correspondence will be entered into over this decision.
12. For all competitions based on the voting mechanism, Al Sidra Media LLC retains the right to exclude any entries violating the terms and conditions for voting should evidence of violation arise. Other objectionable behavior violating the fairness of the contest, such as attempts of manipulation and misuse of votes, may result in exclusion from voting and may result in the disqualification of the entry in question. However, each participant may actively endorse his/her chances of winning by motivating his/her social network to vote for his/her submission.
13. For all photo contests:
    • All entries must abide by the UAE’s laws and cultural standards.
    • Entrants must ensure that any person or persons whose image has been used in the relevant promotion entry has given valid consent for the use of their image. Failure to adequately demonstrate this consent to the satisfaction of Al Sidra Media LLC will result in the relevant entry’s disqualification from the promotion.
14. Al Sidra Media LLC does not accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant as a result of accepting any prize.
15. The winners will be chosen from all qualifying entries within seven days after the closing date.
16. Any entries received, including the winning entry or entries, may be selected by Al Sidra Media LLC for all promotions unless stated otherwise.
17. 7DAYS reserves the right to amend or alter the terms of campaigns at any time and reject entries that are deemed not to be in the spirit of the campaign.
