The leisure centre will feature a six lane 25 metre pool, a learner pool with a moveable floor and an overlooking spectator area.
Residents will benefit from a variety of other facilities within the centre including a fitness suite, two squash courts and two dance studios and will be able to relax in the centre’s sauna and steam room or in the two treatment rooms for physiotherapy and beauty therapy.
Barr Construction has a track record of delivering state-of-the-art sports and leisure facilities across the UK and the Barr team is looking forward to working with the community during the course of the programme and are confident the new leisure centre will be a fantastic and well-used resource in the local area.
The new leisure centre will replace the former Bramston Sports Centre and is due for completion next summer.
Councillor Joanne Beavis, Cabinet Member for Communities at Braintree District Council said: “It’s great news that construction work for this new state-of-the art leisure facility is currently underway.
“We can now look forward to seeing the building take shape over the next year and during these exciting times we hope to run a number of community focused initiatives, currently under discussion, to enable local residents, school children and sports groups to get involved and keep updated with the build stage over the next few months.”
