Even though Penn State suffered a 34-31 loss to Central Florida on Saturday, Nittany Lions quarterback Christian Hackenberg still put together a game worthy of Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors. It's his second selection in three weeks.

Hackenberg was 21-of-28 passing for 262 yards and a touchdown against UCF. He had two completions of 40-plus yards and didn't turn the ball over.

Hackenberg is 66-of-92 (72 percent) for 851 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions this season. He's averaging 283 pass yards per game.

Against Eastern Michigan, Hackenberg set the single-game passing record by a Penn State freshman -- previously held by Zack Mills (280 yards) in 2001 -- with 311 yards.

Penn State (2-1) hosts Kent State (1-2) on Saturday in its final non-conference matchup.
