More temples than schools in State

There are more temples and other places of worship in Odisha than there are schools or even hospitals and healthcare facilities.  According to the first phase of Houselisting and Housing survey, 1.1 per cent of the census houses are used as places of worship in the State whereas just about 0.8 per cent are used schools and colleges. Barely 0.1 per cent houses are used as hospitals and dispensaries. As part of Census 2011, the Houselisting and Housing Survey covered the entire State and found that the number of census houses has increased from 98.73 lakh to 127.59 lakh.
