Tickets ranging from $39 to $89 available for sale to general public on May 11

Moncton, N.B. – (April 26, 2011) -- Tickets for this September’s Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic will go on sale to the general public on May 11, the Canadian Football League announced today.

“We’re very proud, along with our partners at Scotiabank, to be back in Moncton for another special celebration of our league and its bond with the passionate fans we have here in Atlantic Canada,” said Mark Cohon, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League.

“And we’re very excited that this year’s match-up has all the makings of a classic East-West shootout: the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Calgary Stampeders feature two of the most high-powered offences in our league, and some of our most outstanding and exciting stars.”

The league unveiled ticket information for the September 25th regular season game at a news conference here that featured the CFL’s reigning Most Outstanding Player, Calgary quarterback Henry Burris, and Hamilton quarterback Kevin Glenn, who threw for more than 5,000 yards in 2010.

Details include:

• Tickets go on sale to the general public May 11, starting at 10 a.m., and can be purchased here, in person at the Moncton Coliseum box office, or by telephone at 506-857-4100 or toll free at 1-888-720-5600.

• Designed to be affordable for the league’s growing fan base in Atlantic Canada, ticket prices range $39 to $89.

• Tickets have also been made available to Tiger-Cat and Stampeder season ticket holders.

Last year, tickets to the inaugural Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic, the first ever regular season CFL game in Atlantic Canada, sold out in a mere 32 hours.

“Every game is a big game, but it’s extra special to be part of something new and exciting, and I know our team is really excited about it,” Burris told reporters.

Glenn added that many Tiger-Cat players have also circled this game on the CFL schedule.

“This is a chance to showcase our talents to a new group of fans in a different region of the country, at a critical time in the year when every CFL team is striving to nail down its playoff position,” he said.

"I think one of the greatest indicators of your success as a host is to be asked again, and Moncton is truly honoured to welcome the CFL back for another exciting game,” said Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc.

“We're looking forward to having Mr. Cohon and the CFL with us once again this fall for all the exhilarating events and activities leading up to the big game. The CFL is a Canadian treasure and we're delighted to help bring it to our corner of this great country.”

Premier David Alward said Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic adds another dimension to Moncton's emergence as the entertainment hub of Atlantic Canada.

“The return of the Canadian Football League (CFL) proves that hard work to establish Moncton and New Brunswick as major draws is paying off,” said Premier Alward. “The Touchdown Atlantic regular season game between the Tiger-Cats and Stampeders will entertain fans and generate important economic benefits for the region.”

“This is our ‘home’ game, and we’re hoping for the same kind of passionate support we can depend on back home,” said Scott Mitchell, President of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

“We have great fans in Hamilton, and we’ll miss them against the Stamps, but we also know they share our pride in building the CFL brand across our great country.”

Stamps head coach and general manager John Hufnagel and president and COO Lyle Bauer played as members of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a preseason game in New Brunswick in 1985, the first time the CFL held a game there.

"The fans were unbelievable and we were really struck by their hospitality," says Lyle Bauer. "Coach Hufnagel and I are looking forward to somewhat of a homecoming in New Brunswick. We can't wait to renew old friendships."

Details on the festival that will precede this year’s Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic game – including amateur football games, concerts and parties -- will be announced shortly. The big game itself is scheduled for 2 p.m. Atlantic Time (1 p.m. Eastern Time) on September 25th at Stade Moncton Stadium on the campus of the Université de Moncton.

The 2011 CFL season opens with RONA Canada Day Kickoff Weekend when the Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes host the B.C. Lions on Thursday, June 30 at 7:00pm ET on TSN / RDS. Opening weekend continues on Canada Day with a double header as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ivor Wynne Stadium at 6:00pm ET (TSN) followed by the Calgary Stampeders hosting the Toronto Argonauts at 9:00pm ET. RONA Canada Day Kickoff Weekend wraps-up with the Edmonton Eskimos playing the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday, July 3 at 7:00pm ET (TSN).
