ARIA Web Volunteers ARIA is soon to launch its new website and is looking for some enthusiastic volunteer tertiary students to help manage it.

Volunteers will work from an office in Sydney, and will be responsible for aggregating content from various music industry companies, managing the activities and events of the site, and writing & posting editorial columns. Hours are flexible.

If you are studying an internet or marketing course at a university or college which has a work experience program that you can be a part of, and you want to learn about the music industry, send an e-mail to
bm@aria.com.au and help us create the #1 music site in the country.

The ARIA charts are the premier sales based charts in Australia. Instigated in 1983 and compiled under licence for the first 5 years, the charts were first produced in-house in 1988.

A new era for the ARIA charts began on February 17 1997. For the first time, Australia's Top 100 Singles and Albums charts were compiled from 100% electronically gathered data. The new generation chart was given a new name...ARIAnet. The advantages of ARIAnet are numerous - the end result is a faster, more accurate, more detailed chart that will benefit wholesalers, retailers and the public.

Not only does ARIA produce the weekly pop charts, but also specific charts covering many other genres of music, including Dance, Alternative, Country, Jazz and Classical. There is also a Music Video chart and an ARIA Hit Seekers chart noting acts who have never before reached the Top 50 on the national ARIA Singles and Albums charts. In addition, at the end of each year, ARIA produces "Best of" charts ranking top sellers for the calendar year.

With the advent of ARIAnet, the charts have the potential to provide in-depth marketing information. While the overwhelming priority at present is to build a world class computer-based chart, ARIA is committed to the gradual but sure realisation of ARIAnet's full potential which will provide benefits to the industry and public alike.

The ARIA REPORT, which includes all the abovementioned charts, is produced and mailed to hundreds of subscribers weekly. For subscription information, please contact ARIA at subs@aria.com.au. Meanwhile, publicly available copies of the ARIA Chart are printed and distributed to record stores around the country every week.

Each week, The ARIA REPORT features CHARTIFACTS, TOP 100 SINGLES and ALBUMS charts, STATE CHART BREAKDOWNS, CHARTS from the USA, UK, EUROPE and NEW ZEALAND, HITSEEKERS, the new URBAN (R&B) CHARTCLUB CHART, CLASSICAL CHART, JAZZ & BLUES CHART, VIDEO CHART, WEEKLY NEW RELEASES, and more!!
