Onion rings are slices of onion that are covered in batter and then fried in oil.[1] The onion rings are supposed to be savory and a little sweet, with a crunchy batter coating.[2] The first recipe for making onion rings is from 1802.[3] Some people claimed that onions rings were invented by a restaurant in Texas but this is not true.[4]
