Ferrochrome is an alloy made of iron and chromium. Ferrochrome is not normally used as a material on its own, instead being mixed with iron and other elements like manganese to make stainless steel. It is also the main source of pure chromium metal.
Production
[change | change source]Ferrochrome is made by smelting chromite, the main ore of chromium.
