Cable Finder

Not Sure Which Cable You Need

To ensure you are getting the correct cable, you can use the cable finder. There are multiple USB connection types and different USB version numbers.

The version number indicates the cables transfer speed. The higher the version number, the faster they can work. However, to get the full power, the “host,” the device, and the cable must have that version. If not, the lowest USB version in the chain will control the speed.

For example,if your computer has a 2.0 USB port, your cable is 3.0, and your phone is 3.0, you will achieve 2.0 speed. If all three (computer, cable, and phone) all have 3.0 then you will have 3.0 speed.

Super Quality
Great product. I just got it earlier today, but made sure it passes my 4 tests: 1. 910mA current tested on my Nexus5. T805 managed to pull over 1100mA. Cheaper cables didn't make it past 500mA. 2. Ability to maintain multi touch while charging at the above rate. Lower quality cables will induce false touches. 3. Data transfer rate - Did not measure it but it skyrocketed backing up my entire phone to PC 4. Sturdiness - Looks like its well built and the connectors make me feel they will last longer than other cables I had. I recommend this to anyone looking for reliable charging and data transfer experience

    Excellent USB Cable

    Nobody should be paying more than a couple of bucks for a USB cable, so kudos to Amazon for making one that is good quality for the right price. I love the size of it too. Six feet is perfect. It gives me enough room pretty much wherever I am that I can charge my phone/table while still using it without feeling like I have a mile of cable attached to it. Great product.

    I am comparing this USB cable to the Monoprice Premium 6 ft Micro USB cable which I bought last year. At the end of the day, they are both fine quality, inexpensive cables, but as of now I am giving the edge to Amazon Basics.

    Aesthetics:

    Monoprice- Slim cord, comes in multiple colors, and thin connectors make this a very visually pleasing cable. Not that it matters, but it is something I appreciate.

    Amazon- Bulky, only black, areas where it connects are much larger. It's an ugly, but at the end the day it's a USB cable.

    Build Quality:

    Monoprice: Not great. It The plastic backing on the smaller connector fell off so now it fits very loose in my devices and seems like it is at risk of fraying any day now. However, it still does it's job and has yet to cause any real problems.

    Amazon: I have not given it as much time as the Monoprice cable, but I can already tell it is better quality. It is thicker and bulkier, and the plastic around the connectors is much sturdier. I feel like it might not fit into something with a bulky case, but so far I have not had this problem.

    There's not much else to say about it. They're both excellent products at great prices and they work the way they should. If you want a prettier looking cable, go with the Monoprice. If you want a cable with beefier construction and is a bit more sturdy, go with Amazon Basics. Both are great but for my uses I prefer the Amazon. This is my go-to cable now. It's a great thing to tack on to other purchases to push you over $35 dollars for that free shipping!

    Premium cord, low low price. Highly recommend.

    A lot of people don't realize that the cord you use to charge your phone/tablet is just as important as the charger itself. If you use a low quality cord you'll have slow or reduced charging even with a high quality charger plugged in. Most importantly, if you use a low quality cable you'll also run into the problem of data transfer- when you hook your phone/tablet into your computer to backup your data low quality cables often won't even register that you've plugged anything in because they don't have the components necessary to transfer data or the components are poorly made. When you throw in the fact that cords must be durable due to their constant use and gyrating, you start to see how important the cable is.

    Amazon Basics has never let me down, and this cord is no exception. It charges my phone using a 2.1A charger flawlessly, transfers data from my computer to my phone and vice versa flawlessly, and is made of thick and sturdy plastic that will last more than the lifetime of my phone.

    Its length is also very important. I often lay on my bed as my phone is charging and read the news/play games on it, so having a 6ft long cord makes life that much easier and convenient.

    If you need a replacement cable or an extra cable I highly recommend this one. It not only does its job, it does its job well and is an affordable cable with premium components.

    These are not as good as Anker cables.

    8/9/2016 Update

    I bought these back in June of 2015, the clips that keeps the cable locked to your device while charging will fail only after a few months. I purchased the Anker cables during the same time, those are still working as they originally did.

    8/30/2016 Update

    I decided to test 3 well known cables. Amazon, Anker, and genuine Samsung. Here are the results:

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Amazon cable + Anker Astro3E power bank = 5.4W

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Amazon cable + LG G2 phone = 6.27W

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Amazon cable + Samsung S4 phone = 0W (provided zero charge)

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Anker cable + Anker Astro3E power bank = 10.8W

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Anker cable + LG G2 phone = 9.4W

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Anker cable + Samsung S4 phone = 5.86W

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Samsung cable + Anker Astro3E power bank = 7.34W

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Samsung cable + LG G2 phone = 8.58W

    Anker PowerPort 2 + Samsung cable + Samsung S4 phone = 5.86W

    Other tests I did:

    It became obvious that the Anker USB cable outperformed the other 2. So I decided, why don't I change chargers? Would I get different results?

    Genuine Apple charger from iPad Mini 2

    Genuine LG charger from G2 phone

    Genuine Samsung charger from S4 phone

    Apple + Anker cable + Anker Astro3E power bank = 10.5W

    Apple + Anker cable + LG G2 phone = 9.21W

    Apple + Anker cable + Samsung S4 phone = 5.65W

    LG charger + Anker cable + Anker Astro3E power bank = 9.66W

    LG charger + Anker cable + LG G2 phone = 9.03W

    LG charger + Anker cable + Samsung S4 phone = 5.64W

    Samsung charger + Amazon cable + Anker Astro3E power bank = 4.64W

    Samsung charger + Amazon cable + LG G2 phone = 6.24W

    Samsung charger + Amazon cable + Samsung S4 phone = 0W

    Samsung charger + Anker cable + Anker Astro3E power bank = 10.9W

    Samsung charger + Anker cable + LG G2 phone = 9.73W

    Samsung charger + Anker cable + Samsung S4 phone = 5.81W

    Conclusion

    Winner = Anker micro USB cables. I've had the Anker cables since summer of 2015, they still perform like new. The thinner ones that sometimes come with the power bank perform just as well as these thicker Powerline series, they got the same results. I only bought the Amazon cables thinking they had a lot of reviews so they must be good, but I noticed that after 3 months these fail to actually lock onto your device. The locking cilps whatever they call it, get stuck into open position. This means the USB cable can disconnect during a charge or data transfer. During this this, it was plugged in all the way for the Samsung S4 phone.

    Samsung charger was the best charger during these tests but you can't buy these, not even from Samsung's website. The ones offered anywhere online may just be fakes. For only $10, the dual port Anker charger performed very well.

    My Star Ratings (with Amazon Ratings in parenthesis):

    1 Star (I hate it!) : The lowest score possible. Definitely not worth the money and time and effort! should only use this when the product really does not reflect the product listing. If there are any positives at all to the product or its use, you should not give it 1 star.

    2 Stars (I don't like it.): The product is not exactly as described, either appearance-wise or functionally. The product may still be usable but it’s very different to what was described. The product may have a few faults. I'm not a fan of this item as it is no where close to my expectations and I won't order it again, but I can imagine a few others might find it functional as it has at least one positive quality.

    3 Stars (It's okay): This item has both positive and negative qualities. I can definitely see some people loving or liking it as it may work for them, but I would likely not purchase in future. While you might think a 3-star score equates to average, 3 stars counts against the product as a negative score. So if you’re not meaning to give it a negative score, rethink your 3-star rating!

    4 Stars (I like it): The product is as described and functions well. There may be a few minor issues, but all in all, the product is solid. This item arrived and functions as advertised. I would change a few things about this, but is a good product overall. I would use this item.

    5 Stars (I love it!): This item is AWESOME. I will use it and recommend it to others! I just LOVE it! It works as advertised and is an all-around great product. product is amazing! You love it! This is the highest of the highs. If you would recommend it to your friends, family — it’s definitely a 5-star score. Be unbiased here; if the product is exactly as described and meets expectations, but the product isn’t your personal favorite, it could still be 5 stars.

    Best charging cord yet

    This Amazon basics 2.0 chaging cord is by far the best charging cord I have ever used. I've gone through approximately 5 Samsung (original stock) cords and more than I can remember of the off brand/cheaper micro USB brands.

    I noticed the price of this cord is extremely low in price compared to the typical $10-$20 price range I typically spend in charging cords. I was skeptical but noticed it appeared to be heavier duty just based on the picture. For once, judging a "book" by its cover steered me right. The cord is longer than the typical stock cords and the micro usb end has a heavy duty protective barrier connecting to the wire which is a feature that is typically weak on a standard cord. The micro usb end is Otter Box friendly (at least for a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 defender series). It plugs into the phone more securely than most (an optimal fit not too tight that it feels forced and not loose or weak). I purchased 3 more and I'm nothing shy of impressed with the durability and functionality for such a great price. I reccomend this especially for those of you who like me, are rough on your chargers.

    Of the two cords, one stopped working within a month of receipt. So far the other cord has been fine. The faulty cord had minimal use, and had stayed plugged into the same wall outlet since it arrived. I was pretty disappointed to plug in my phone and find my brand new cord had no response. For the price though, one functioning cord is still pretty good.

    *UPDATE*: The second cord is also now broken. I contacted Amazon customer service, and they are sending a replacement set under warranty. I'm annoyed that the cords are this touchy, but Amazon has been really wonderful about this.

    I got both the 2-pack of the 3-foot cables, and the 6-foot cable. These are such great cables! These are as close to industrial-strength micro-USB cables as I've ever seen. You could use them in a very rough environment that would instantly snap or bend other cable's delicate parts, and expect these to last for months in that environment. Or, if you're not rough on your cables, then these should last for years.

    These cables have nice gold colored plugs and pins, and they're easy to plug in and use. The heads and cords are a little stiff. This helps them not get broken as easily, and it makes it so they don't get tangled much. But if you don't like stiff-feeling cables, they might be an adjustment.

    But, overall, you really owe it to yourself to get some really nice micro-USB cables, instead of the standard ones that you get with your electronic devices, and these are great ones to get.

    Pros:

    +Extremely solid and sturdy

    +Look very attractive

    +Works well

    +Great long lengths

    Cons:

    -Has Amazon stamped on these twice

    The AmazonBasics Micro-USB to USB Cable (6-ft) is a good quality cable that is effectively ruined by its non-compliant Micro-B plug (the thing that goes into the phone or other device). In short, the Micro-B connector on the cable is too tall and it can cause damage or excessive wear to itself or the device it's connected to. I noticed something was awry when I tried using this cable for the first time ~ it took a lot more force to get it to mate with my phone, and the insertion process was rough. Upon visual inspection, I noticed that the plastic ring around my phone's USB port was scratched, and when I compared the Micro-B plug on this cable to the one I normally use, the AmazonBasics Micro-B plug was noticeably larger.

    I used a caliper to confirm my observation, and the measurements speak for themselves. The Micro-B plug mechanical specification defines the normative height to be 1.8mm (-0.08mm/+0.02mm). I measured the height of the plug at the tip three separate times and found that it ranged between 1.87mm to 1.90mm depending on how hard I squeezed. With a minimum height of 1.87mm, the AmazonBasics Micro-USB plug still violates the USB Micro-B plug mechanical specification, and it explains the bad experience I had with it.

    Considering the top-selling status of this cable and the overwhelmingly positive feedback, I'd like to believe that the bad cable I got was a fluke, but at the same time, it's disturbing to see that a cable so far out of spec can still make it past quality control. I'm requesting an exchange and I'll update this review if there is a problem with the replacement.

    Update: 12/8/2015

    I got my replacement from cable a couple of months ago from Amazon. I measured the replacement cable and found that while it was better than my original, the USB Micro-B plug on the replacement was still too big. Using a caliper, I recorded 1.83mm which is just 0.01mm over spec. In the end, I decided to keep the cable because I really wanted something longer and it seems to work well enough. Since both of the cables I received did not conform to USB Mechanical Specifications, I cannot recommend this cable.

    These wires are really strong and durable . They are really good to use and as it is given in description , yes it supports fast charging i.e it supports 2.1 amp charging but I don't know about 3 amp .. They can also be used roughly.. as they are stronger.. and they are made of good quality material and the micro usb pin is very strong that it will never get loosed like other cheap quality wires ... so.. the both pins are strong... but 6 feet is too long to me and 3 feet is little short for me.. If in case there is an option buying 4 feet or 4.5 feet then they are perfect to my type of usage... but overall no issues till now..

    Simply the best

    No need look back for other product, Damn good Quality, Sync is very faster (lightning).

    Tough i like boAt usb Cable as it is also the best USB cable. where it is unbreakable with almost 1.5mts long.

    My best Preference: boAt & Amazon Basic both are awesome products.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    boAt Vs Amazon basic
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    A.)boAt USB cable:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    1.) 2yrs Warranty,
    2.) 1.5mts lengthy wire, (Amazon basic 0.9mts in Length)
    3.) unbreakable usb cable,
    4.) Fast Sync,
    5.) High speed charging,
    6.) Metal braided heavy-duty cable skin,
    7.) Compatible with all Mobiles and External HDD also
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    B.) Amazon Basic USB 2.0 :

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    1.) 1 year limited warranty,
    2.) 0.9mts Length (boAt 1.5mts in length)
    3.) Lightning Sync
    4.) Supports 480-Mbps transmission speed
    5.) Normal Charging according to Charging adaptor.
    6.) Gold plated to get free from rust, which helps in signal purity.
    7.) Compatible with all Mobiles and External HDD also
    Both are having their own Advantages, Can blindly go for any one of them Either "Amazon basic or boAt"
    I am having both of them, both are awesome.
    Note: Don't blame Amazon basic or boAt USB Wire because of your mobile device. As some of the mobile brands are not having good inbuilt usb connectivity. i.e., device issue not usb cable issue. As these Wires will do their Job 100%.
    For warranty u can call amazon, so that you will get replacement within warranty period.
    Whilst these leads are marked "Amazon Basics" I have found them in the past to be very good solid quality. I had some problems with a USB 3 lead I ordered some time back and replaced it with one of the AB versions and it was perfect and a lot cheaper. Despite the assumption that it is going to be worse quality than more expensive offerings it appears that this is not so.
    I now actively look for these when I want a replacement lead and so far all (I've had 3 now) have been excellent.
    I'm also going to add as other reviewers have said that these have pretty chunky surrounds so they may not be suitable for all devices. This particular cable was not bought for mobile phone charging and that is perhaps where I'd see a possible problem with some models. Particularly if you have a case which may interfere with it being plugged all the way in then get something slimmer.
    I wish I could buy these for my IPhone 4s etc. What great quality. Never broke apart at the ends in over a year and is well made. Unlike one I've bought elsewhere which ended up burning up to the point of causing a fire if left on for very long. Some fray at the ends irregardless of how careful I was. The only thing better than this would be to put a swivel on them.
